CAT TALES RESCUE KNOWS EVERY CAT HAS A TALE (or story), but we are not always able to find out a homeless cat's tale. Here is one kitty, named Snare, whose rescuer Frank Butler knew her story. Frank is President of the Texas Coastal Bend Blues Society. He decided to help a musician friend's cat when she lost her home and contacted CTR for assistance. The cat's owner, well-known blues musician Tony Saracene, became sick, had to close his recording studio, entered hospice, and could no longer care for her. Snare was the studio cat at Tony's recording studio in Aransas Pass. Tony was an original member of Hell's Kitchen Band in NYC, and later moved to Austin where he recorded and produced many blues albums, and toured with famous blues singer John Lee Ho**er as his guitarist. Tony acquired her as a kitten about 8 years ago from a Rockport friend. He named her Snare because she would sit on a chair and smack the snare drum on a very expensive vintage Ludwig "Club Kit" in the recording studio when she first arrived. As Studio Cat, she was the Official Door Greeter and welcomed the many visitors who came to hear blues and jazz music. Frank stated her personal musical preferences are Chicago Blues like Muddy Waters, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf over contemporary blues artists. No doubt that social experience and friendliness helped her quickly be adopted by a nice young couple after only a few days at our Partner Shelter S**T in San Antonio. And another Cat Tale ends happily every after. Here is Snare in the recording studio enjoying her favorite blue, purring along with one of her favorite tunes.

Cat Tales Rescue TX is in great need of a volunteer to foster Mom Cat Melody and her 5 kittens. They were born in a temporary home over the past weekend that must be vacated in a few days. Taking care of a mom cat and her litter is one of the easiest ways to foster. Mom Melody does the hard work of nursing and caring for her kits. All you have to do is provide a space large enough for a dog crate cage, feed her twice a day and tend to her litter box. CTR will provide all the necessities including a large wire crate cage to hold the family as well as litter, food and medical care. CTR will find permanent homes for all of them once the kittens are old enough to leave Mom and be on their own.
Please respond quickly so we can get this little family settled as quickly as possible. Text or call Gayly at 312-493-1855 for details. Or email [email protected].

WE WAVED GOODBYE for the summer to Wisconsin Winter Texan Shari Olson-Neva (below), who holds the record for our longest-time foster volunteer at more than 5 years in a row. Shari turned in her last pair of foster kittens to go to Austin for adoption earlier this week. Then she left for the cooler temps of Wisconsin on Friday. Her last pair were Oreo (top photo) and Angel below him. Shari did such a great job fostering these two, they were adopted within 24 hours after arriving at the shelter in Austin. You might think it's hard to tell them apart, but it's really very easy. Oreo has a pink nose and Angel, a black nose. Shari said this year's kittens were the best group ever, and she promises to return next October to help us with the fall litters. By the way, THANK YOU SHARI!

PS. We still have lots of kittens needing fosters. If you'd like to foster for Cat Tales Rescue, give us a call or send a text at 312-493-1855 and Gayly will give you all the details. There's nothing better for laughs and love than 2 or 3 kittens in your home for a temporary visit. Cat Tales takes care of all medical needs and finds them a purr-manent home.

CTRTX did several kitty intakes yesterday. Here are two views of the largest number with 5 kitties in one intake. This Mom Cat had her litter of 3 in Ancient Oaks RV Park. Linda Brown is a resident there, rescued the 4 from under the RV Park community center, and took them to safety at her home. Then another resident found a single abandoned kitten of a similar age, and black and white like the other kittens. They showed it to Mom Cat who purred "Sure I will take it and nurse and mother it, too. The more, the merrier." Now there are 5. Our volunteer "D" just relinquished her CTR foster cat to be adopted, so had room available and volunteered to foster again. Now the not-so-little-family of 5 is enjoying life safely indoors in a playpen provided by CTRTX. Thank you Linda for rescuing the group and thank you to our foster "D" for happily taking them in.
