Aransas Pathways

Aransas Pathways Aransas Pathways is a venue-tax supported project to enhance the Aransas County community in the areas of History, Birding, Kayaking and Hike and Bike Trails.

The Aransas Pathways Steering Committee and Technical Committees for History, Birding, Kayaking, and Trails the Project continues to make progress toward its goal of establishing new or updated attractions which will provide more things for visitors to the county to do. Aransas Pathways is responsible for coordinating, funding and completing projects brought forward by the Technical Committees. Al

l projects are funded by the venue tax passed in May 2010 or grants from various organizations and individuals. The venue tax is collected through hotels, motels and rental property management companies and is paid by visitors to the county. There is no cost to property owners within the County. The purpose is put “visitor’s heads in beds” but all projects serve a dual purpose, as visitors and citizens alike can enjoy the amenities. The Project when approved by Commissioner’s Court and then, only when the project is being completed on land which is controlled by the project. This means that property acquisition by purchase or by lease is an important and time consuming activity. This is a major portion of the time required to complete most of the Pathways Projects.

FLYDAY FRIDAY | Take Your Shot. Share Your Story.

Some of the best adventures begin with a photograph.

This summer, the Texas Historical Commission invites you to explore Texas State Historic Sites and participate in the Summer Snapshot Challenge. Visit a historic site, capture a photo of yourself or your group, and submit your entry for a chance to win prizes throughout the summer.

Why does this matter to Aransas Pathways?

Because history is more than preserving buildings—it's about preserving stories.

At Aransas Pathways, our History Pillar helps connect people to the places, events, and traditions that have shaped our communities. Every visit to a historic site creates an opportunity to learn, explore, and experience the stories that define Texas and Aransas County.

As we continue connecting people, places, stories, and experiences, we encourage you to get outside, discover something new, and share the journey along the way.

FLYDAY FRIDAY | Take Your Shot and Discover Texas History

Some of the best travel memories begin with a simple photograph.

This summer, the Texas Historical Commission invites travelers, families, history enthusiasts, and explorers to participate in the Summer Snapshot Challenge. Visit a Texas state historic site, capture your experience, and submit your photo for a chance to win prizes throughout the season.

At Aransas Pathways, we believe every trail, waterway, sanctuary, and historic site tells a story. Through our History Pillar, we encourage residents and visitors to experience the places that have shaped Texas and inspired generations of explorers, artists, conservationists, and storytellers.

Whether you are discovering a historic landmark for the first time or revisiting a favorite destination, your next adventure could become part of a larger story worth sharing.

Why it matters to Aransas Pathways:
