We were happy to once again host our annual Springtime on the Farm ag day event yesterday at the 4-H Fairgrounds for Spencer County 3rd graders! Over 230 students and staff from Lincoln Trail PTO, Luce Elementary School, Saint Bernard Catholic School, Chrisney Elementary, Nancy Hanks Elementary, Rockport Elementary School, and David Turnham were educated about various aspects of agricultural (crops and their byproducts, animals and livestock (including chickens, sheep, goats and cows), dairy and ice cream production, bees and honey production, tractor/PTO safety, hunter and boater safety, Stop the Bleed, 911 emergency management, and soil conservation.

Special thank you to those who presented: Purdue Extension-Spencer County (Nick Held), Leibering Dimension, Inc. (Phil Leibering), Spencer County Soil & Water Conservation District, Spencer County Sheriff’s Office and Spencer County Emergency Management Agency, Officer Crews from Spencer County DNR, Dave Brenner from Vanderburgh County Farm Bureau, Jim Voges with Anderson Valley Honey, South Spencer High School FFA, HHHS FFA, Jennifer Hill of Hill Family Farm, Kelli Reinke and Michaela of Reinke Farms, Joey Tempel from Tempel Family Livestock, and Logan Leibering of Leibering & Sons Angus Farm. Thank you to Ken Shourds Equipment for lending us your tractor for the demonstration as well.

Spencer County Farm Bureau will once again be hosting our annual Springtime on the Farm ag education event this year on April 1, 2026 for local 3rd graders! Emails went out to teachers this afternoon, but if you are a homeschool group and would like to participate, or are involved in agriculture and are interested in volunteering, please send us a message for more information.
