Sometimes you capture lightning in a bottle and last night was one of those moments at the Harbor Room. Kimmie Rhodes and her son Gabriel has played a beautiful first set and were then joined by JT Van Zandt Fly Fishing for what was going to be one song but turned into several including some songs of his father and Blaze Foley, and the audience was truly moved. To top that off, J.T. read an eloquent tribute to artist and friend Steve Russell who was with us that evening. It was unforgettable and stands as one of the best things I have seen period.

Great day up at the Texas Women Songwriter Festival in Lockhart yesterday. The Rockport Songwriter Association’s Song Cast program was well represented by three of our recipients Emma James, Macy Dot and Rachel Laven. Also great seeing Libby Koch (and Emily Shirley who did the artwork for Libby’s new record) and Barbara Nesbitt, both festival favorites down here. Look forward to the next one!!
