Bonnie Nava, Coordinator for the ACISD Mentor Program picked up 457 books and 100 bookmarks yesterday which will be available for her students at their spring party!!!

Please continue collecting books for the 2023 project!!!

Good morning ACRTA Members,

Our meeting this past Tuesday was full of amazing events!!! Laila Flowers, the Rockport Fulton HS student, whom we sponsored as a page to attend the Aransas County Day at the Capitol, came and gave a very impressive synopsis of her experience.

Luis Puron, Rockport Art Center Executive Director shared everything the new center has to offer to the public, including present and future events, classes being offered and also gave a thorough history lesson as to how the center came to be and grew over the years.

The meeting ended with a "100th Birthday Party" for one of the original ACRTA members and the first Secretary of ACRTA, Vi Shirey!!!

All of you who were not able to attend were missed!!!

On a final note, IF you were not able to attend this meeting but would like to attend the upcoming May 16th ACRTA ACISD Retirees Luncheon please let me know by May 1st and indicate if you wish to make a donation towards the entree' (enchiladas) or bring a dish, please let me know by May 1st and I will gladly add you to the RSVP list.

The next monthly meeting of ACRTA will be on Tuesday, April 18th at the First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall #4. The Executive Director of the Rockport Center for the Arts, Luis Puron, will be giving the program..you won't want to miss this!!! This meeting will also be the FINAL opportunity to sign up for the ACRTA ACISD Retirees Luncheon on May 16th!!!

The Aransas County Retired Teachers Association (ACRTA) is proud to announce that it's members celebrated the association's 25th Anniversary at their meeting on March 21st, 2023. The TRTA local chapter, ACRTA, was founded on February 17th, 1998. Both the founder and first President, Sofie Perkins, and first Secretary, Vi Shirey, residents of Rockport, were honored at this meeting.

ACRTA is the local affiliate of Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA). TRTA’s number one priority remains that of serving as the VOICE of the members as they continue to work remotely to protect the earned benefits of TRTA and TRS. Anyone who supports teachers and quality education for our community are welcome to join!!!
