Storm Notice issued at 09/25/26 01:28 PM

The Town continues to closely monitor the storm that is set to impact the region through Sunday. The current forecast predicts 3-4 inches of rain over the duration, astronomically high tides with wind driven waves (most impactful Saturday and Sunday), and strong winds with gusts over 55 mph. To prepare for tidal flooding, T Wharf will close at 7AM Saturday, September 26 until further notice. Vehicles left after that time are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense. Residents are encouraged to be prepared for potential power outages due to the strong winds. If you have not already done so, you are encouraged to secure any loose yard furniture or items. The Town will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. A reminder to check on your neighbors and those who may need assistance. **This is a text and email notice; no phone call will follow.

The Town is closely monitoring the storm forecast for this area starting Friday and going through Sunday (as currently forecast). The storm, as it stands now, is slated to include strong winds, coastal flooding, poor sea conditions, and potentially 2-4 inches of rain over the duration.

The next two days are a good time to prepare for any potential storm impacts, including storing yard furniture that could become a hazard in high winds, securing any coastal items (boats, etc.), preparing for any potential power outages, etc.

As the forecast becomes more clear over the next two days, the Town will communicate any necessary guidance, actions and/or restrictions via its communication mediums: CodeRED, Town social media accounts, Town website, and special editions of the Motif newsletter.

Members of the Rockport Forest Fire Department assisted in road closures and maintaining integrity of the fire scene during yesterday’s fire at 19 Broadway (RHOP).

Our department assists in this capacity during storms, fires, etc. By using our crew and equipment it frees up the Rockport Police Department to utilize their staff and vehicles for more pressing issues and other calls needed to be answered !!!
