Recess at St Luc ๐Ÿ’™

Every day, nearly 200 kindergarten students across three classes โ€” from our youngest 3-year-olds to our oldest 6-year-olds โ€” pour into this space to run, laugh, and simply be kids. The joy and energy they bring fills every corner of it.

But this โ€œplaygroundโ€ is just a dirt lot โ€” no equipment, no seating, no shade structures. Just open space and big imaginations.

We believe these students deserve more.

As part of our long-term vision to compete the St. Luc campus by 2030, weโ€™re beginning to reimagine what this space could become โ€” green space, play equipment, and dedicated seating for meals and gathering. A place designed not just for movement, but for growth, rest, and dignity.

โœจStay tuned! Thereโ€™s much more to come. We canโ€™t wait to share whatโ€™s ahead! ๐Ÿ‘€

Our Kindergarten 2 students at St. Luc School are kicking off the new term by learning all about shapes โ€” building early math skills one circle, square, and triangle at a time.

Weโ€™re so happy to see the classrooms full again and the students eager to learn. Thank you to everyone who makes moments like this possible. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡น

Good Morning from St. Luc School! โ˜€๏ธ Weโ€™re grateful to share that although Thomassique experienced heavy rains and some wind from the recent hurricane that impacted Haiti, there was no flooding or damage in the area. St. Luc remained open throughout and didnโ€™t have to close a single day!

Attendance has been steadily growing since the first day of school on October 1st โ€” weโ€™re now seeing 550-560 students attending daily (out of 570 enrolled)! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the students, teachers, and families of St. Luc School. Together, weโ€™re helping education thrive in Thomassique! ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“š On October 1st, St. Luc School officially opened its doors for the 2025-2026 school year โ€” and for the first time, weโ€™ve welcomed an 8th Grade class! Enrollment has nearly doubled from last year โ€” soaring from 300 to 570 students โ€” as families continue to flee gang violence and political unrest in other parts of Haiti. Many have arrived with only what they could carry, seeking safety and a future for their children. Attendance at St. Luc has started slow this school year as parents cautiously assess safety, among other challenges like providing shoes and sewing uniforms โ€” a hurdle even in ordinary times โ€” but numbers are continuing to grow each day. Weโ€™re doing all we can to meet the needs of our growing student body, and your support is making that possible. Thank you standing with us! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡น

๐ŸŒŸSt. Luc Teacher Spotlight!๐ŸŒŸ This is 5th Grade teacher, Mr. Wilbert, with his students from last school year. Mr. Wilbert has been teaching for 10 years and instructs his students in math, history, French, Creole, and experimental sciences. When asked what he likes most about St. Luc, he said that he loves having the opportunity to improve the education levels of children in Thomassique, Haiti. He also appreciates the schoolโ€™s leadership and how nice the school building is. We are excited to welcome Mr. Wilbert and his new class of incoming 5th Graders on September 8th! ๐Ÿ“šโœ๏ธ

This incredible crew is working hard to continue construction on St. Lucโ€™s third floor ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘ The new school year is scheduled to start September 8th, and we desperately hope to complete it before then! Our amazing supporters have helped us raise $14,000 to date. We are $6,000 away from reaching our $20,000 goal! Thank you so much to everyone who has made this outstanding progress a reality โ™ฅ๏ธ Please help us spread the word so have room to welcome so many deserving kiddos back to school very soon!
