Capital Therapy Dogs Volunteer with your friendly dog! Our mission is simple-We share canine kindness. Capital Therapy Dogs is an all-volunteer public charitable organization.

Our caring human and dog volunteers team up to support programs in the Greater Sacramento CA area. Experiencing the animal-human link -- the soft fur and gentle spirit of a dog -- delivers results as simple as smiles. Our volunteers and their dogs make meaningful connections and lighten souls. For children, reading to dogs is a proven method of building confidence and improving skills. Our volunteers and their dogs offer reading programs at schools and libraries that achieve positive outcomes.

For the families of Veterans, every day can feel like Memorial Day.

Not all loss happens on the battlefield. Some families watched their loved one come home changed by war, only to lose them slowly to illness, isolation, and the invisible weight they carried back from places most of us will never go.

This Memorial Day, we honor not only those we’ve lost, but the families who continue living with that loss every single day. If you know a Veteran, a surviving spouse, or a military family who may be struggling — check in. One conversation can matter more than you know.
