September is Hunger Action Month, and the Sierra College Foundation is organizing a peanut butter drive for the Sierra College Basic Needs Center Food Pantry.

Throughout September, we invite our community to donate unopened jars of peanut butter to help stock the pantry and support student experiencing food insecurity. You’re welcome to donate other non-perishable items as well! Mac & Cheese is popular. 😊

The drive runs until September 30. You can drop off the items at the Food Pantry or at the Foundation office. Reach out with any questions.

🦏🦒 Experience a local “African” safari - right here at home!

Join Greg Francek and Sierra College emeritus science faculty members Dick Hilton and Charles Dailey as they share the story of uncovering a remarkable “Miocene zoo” (8+ million years old) near Lake Camanche, just about an hour south of campus.

Come learn about the elephants, rhinos, zebras, camels, and other incredible animals that once roamed our region!

We have a named mascot! Pleased to introduce Claws! While our Foundation staff was rooting for "Kit," the people have spoken. 🥳

Drumroll please.... after hundreds of submissions and more than 1,100 votes, we're excited to share that the name chosen for our new mascot is... Claws!

Claws conveys strength, grit and tenacity—qualities our students and athletes embody every day. It’s bold, memorable, and built for spirited chants ("Claws Out") and game-day culture.

Sierra College Music Department students will be performing at four end-of-the-semester events next week (Student Recital, Winter Band Concert, Jazz Night and the Winter Choral Concert). These events are open to students and community members. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door (except for the Student Recital which is a free event). Join us for our annual Veterans Day Celebration, 10am in the gym for a ceremony followed by an afternoon event with local military and veterans organizations. Additionally, the Eyes of Freedom Memorial Exhibit will be at Sierra College in the gym lobby November 5 and 6 with artist Anita Miller on site November 6. Both events are free and open to students and community members. Parking is also free on both days in the J Lot. Sierra College Foundation
