SSGT Sean C. O'Connell - Remembering an American Hero

SSGT Sean C. O'Connell, 36, of Rockland, Mass.; Died While in Service on this day in 2016. Sean was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003, Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan 2010-2011, and 2014. He was a recipient of the Combat Action Badge and multiple commendations.

Sean loved fishing, hunting and spending time in Maine. He had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. Sean is remembered for having an amazing laugh that was as big as his heart.

His family and friends are in our thoughts always but especially today as they remember their loved one.

We take today to honor and recognize Prisoners of War and those who are still Missing in Action.

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until further notice, as a mark of solemn respect for the memory of Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants, who passed today, September 14, 2020.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls

2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3. All state military installations

September 11 Memorial Ceremony. This display will be up until 2 PM today. Today we honored the men and women who lost their lives that day and to the men and women who served and sacrificed in the cause for freedom.

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, in accordance with United States Public Law 107-89, has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings on Friday, September 11, 2020 in observance of Patriot Day, โ€œin honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed.โ€ The United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset.

This gubernatorial order applies to:
