This weight of worry can be physical, emotional, or financial struggle; these can be a drawbacks that mark us without warning. In a college community, we feel these are forms of crisis: a change, a crunch, a disastrous dilemma, deadlock, or a catastrophe. Rock Valley College is a community to trust when you may fall or sink deep; a distressed call of SOS to your fellow community will not be ignored. Rock Valley College SOS is a humanities club to locate your SOS and provide resources in need. In a call of SOS or “Save our Ship,” RVC SOS will provide distribution of physical resources as "Students of Service." We hope to provide resources like food, transportation, personal hygiene products, school supplies, child care products, etc. We also feel the need to provide references for emotional situations with mental health, domestic abuse, those who seek refuge, etc. RVC SOS feels that your basic needs as human being needs to be addressed in order to graduate; we feel that we can handle these situations and disasters with developmental leadership goals. These goals consist of giving Rock Valley College knowledge, resources, and references in the Rockford area to address one's issue. We feel it is important to enable students to critically analyze human service problems and effectively combat them as a strong community college.
