He grew up in this very community. In his own words, he was once part of the deconstruction — and now he’s fully committed to the reconstruction.

That kind of transformation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through humility, growth, and a decision to lead differently.

I’m proud of him — not just for what he’s accomplished, but for the example he sets and the man he’s helped shape me to become. His journey is proof that where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish.

Albert Weathers has been a lot to me over the past 23 years Pastor, Friend and My son Tamir Bell - Godfather.

He has stopped me from making bad life-changing decisions before and I've called him in tears man to man in more than one occasion. My first time telling someone WHO I WAS was in his basement in a group just like the one we are started FatherHood United .

He’ll be delivering a special message about being at Dinner With Dad at Washington Park on Thursday, February 26th at 6pm. If you care about restoring, equipping, and activating men in our community, you don’t want to miss this one.

We’re continuing to build the FatherHood United program in multiple locations across the city.

Thank you Ken-Rock Center.
This isn’t an event. It’s a movement.

Because of a strong, committed board, we’re expanding a transformational effort focused on one thing: strengthening the bond between fathers and their children. When fathers show up, families change. When families change, communities rise.

Our speakers, Anthony D. Wilson and Gabriel Ryan], delivered powerful insights on what it truly means to be a father — resilience, responsibility, and refusing to give up when it gets hard.

We were also honored by the presence of two special guests and sponsors:

Alderman Chad Tuneburg (Rockford’s 3rd Ward)

Alderman John Logeman (Rockford’s 2nd Ward)

Support matters and Fathers matter.

If you’re a father who wants to grow, connect, and make a difference — or if you know someone who does — join us.

Wayne Fricks doesn’t speak about fatherhood from theory—he speaks from lived experience. His message alludes to what it means to be a father when life includes loss, grief, and seasons that test your strength.

He reminds men that fatherhood isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about presence, perseverance, and choosing to show up even when your heart is heavy.

This conversation is for fathers carrying quiet weight—the ones still leading their families while navigating pain, absence, or unanswered questions.

Wayne Fricks brings faith, honesty, and compassion into the room, creating space for men to reflect, heal, and recommit to the role that matters most.

Fatherhood through loss isn’t weakness. It’s courage in motion.

This February, POWERFULL is creating space for fathers and father figures to slow down, sit at the table, and be present with their kids.

Jackson Charter School Dinner with Dad Photos...

This event was a huge success!
48 parents, children, teachers, and volunteers showed up to support the men who connect our children to their purpose — their fathers.

That matters.

We believe maximum participation from a father is the standard for what a healthy child should grow up with. Now, what that looks like can be different for every family. But presence, effort, and consistency? That’s universal.

And it doesn’t happen alone.

It takes a village to make fatherhood possible. Schools. Coaches. Churches. Community centers. Mentors. Neighbors.

The Dad Movement is not a slogan.
It’s a responsibility.

No neighborhood gets stronger if the men stay weak.
No community thrives if fathers are left out of the equation.
And when fathers are disconnected — children feel it first.

We’re building something bigger than events.
We’re building alignment around our children.

If you believe fathers matter, join us.

Comment **POWER** and share this post.

That’s it.

Once you do, we’ll send you an invite to our next Dinner With Dad — come enjoy Ambiance’s amazing food and hear real stories from fathers who changed their lives and made a difference right here in our community.

This is how movements grow.
One father. One child. One table at a time. 💪🏾

We’re honored to welcome Dr. Anthony Wilson for a powerful conversation with fathers, specifically father figures, and the men who carry influence in our community.

Dr. Wilson has walked this journey from multiple angles — as a pastor, coach, educator in the Rockford Public School system, and community leader. He has seen the impact of father absence up close. Not just in statistics. In classrooms. In locker rooms. In homes. Even within his own family’s story.

He understands the gap father absence leaves behind.

But more importantly — he understands how to help close it.

His message isn’t about guilt. It’s about responsibility and hope. He’ll challenge you to step forward, not shrink back. To recognize that even if you’re not a biological father, you can still be the father figure who shifts a child’s future.

Uncles.
Coaches.
Grandfathers.
Mentors.
Big brothers.

You matter more than you think.

We’re excited to welcome Gabe Chappell, owner of Premium Roofing Solutions, to Ken-Rock Community Center for a powerful conversation with fathers and men in our community.

Gabe’s story isn’t polished. It’s real.

As a single father, he learned to navigate fatherhood without a blueprint. No step-by-step guide. No perfect example to follow. Just responsibility, pressure, and a decision: stay on the path anyway.

While his company is building roofs across this city, he was also building something deeper at home—structure, stability, and security for his child. Even without the exact course laid out for him, he chose consistency. He chose presence. He chose to lead.

His story speaks to every dad who feels like they’re figuring it out as they go.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about perseverance.
It’s about showing up when it would be easier to step back.

Come hear Gabe’s story. Bring your son. Bring your daughter. Bring another dad who needs to be in the room.

Because sometimes the strongest fathers are the ones who built the path while walking it. 💪🏾

Are we raising kids to live our dreams… or discover theirs?

In our latest podcast conversation, we unpacked how the book Parenting Beyond Your Capacity quietly reshaped the way we think about parenting, mentorship, and community.

One core truth hit hard:
👉 Our children are shaped by far more than just us.
Their growth is influenced by teachers, mentors, friends, environments, and the freedom we give them to explore who they actually are.

Too often, parenting sounds like:
🗣️ “You should play basketball.”

But the better question is:
🗣️ “What is it that you want to do?”

We talked about:

• Why imposing our dreams can unintentionally suppress a child’s potential

• How creativity and curiosity are clues—not distractions

• Why listening may be one of the most underrated gifts we can help our kids develop

• The role of community in helping children become who they’re meant to be

Every child has greatness in them—but it won’t always look like ours.

🎧 Chapters:
00:00 – The Impact of Parenting Beyond Your Capacity
02:16 – Letting Children Explore Their Passions
04:25 – Supporting Individual Dreams & Creativity

If you’re a parent, mentor, or leader shaping the next generation—this conversation is for you.

👇 What’s one passion your child (or a child you mentor) surprised you with?
