Brovember Inc. is a charitable organization which seeks to "grow" awareness while raising funds for local Prostate cancer research & education.
Rockford has been home base to the Brovember Beard-A-Thon fundraiser since the fall of 2011 and during the month of November we created the Bro Fund Me campaign. The “Bro Fund Me” campaign is a one-of-a-kind campaign that gives everyone (male & female -bearded or not) an opportunity to band together and raise funds for the local men's prostate cancer research being done in our community. We know t
hat a large percentage of our Beard-A-Thon participants get involved for the cause and keep the funds local for research and support. We are a one-of-a-kind organization that gives everyone an opportunity to participate through their actions and words, as participants’ band together to raise funds and awareness for men's cancer initiatives in our community. This post is way overdue. I personally apologize to Tom & Lori Davie and the whole Rockford Icehogs booster club for the delayed "Thank You" to you all. The Icehog booster club went into disalution a while back but before they closed shop they presented checks out to local non profit organizations. One of the organizations the Rockford IceHogs booster club gave a check to was Brovember. Thank you for the $750 check.
The Icehog booster club has helped out so many organizations through out the years! It was hard to see such a hard working organization leave us and we thank you all for dedication and support in our community.

Great work to Professor Muniratinam and his colleagues! We're so thankful to be affiliated with the Illinois College of Medicine and to have them in Rockford!!
Licorice is more than a candy people either love or hate – it may play a role in preventing or treating certain types of cancer, according to researchers at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford.
Gnanasekar Munirathinam, PhD, and his research team are studying substances derived from the licorice plant Glycyrrhiza glabra to determine if they could be used to prevent or stop the growth of prostate cancer. Dr. Munirathinam is an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
A research review into molecular insights of a licorice-derived substance called glycyrrhizin for preventing or treating cancer conducted by Dr. Munirathinam and student researchers suggests further research could lead to specific agents for clinical use. The journal Pharmacological Research recently published the study titled “Oncopreventive and oncotherapeutic potential of licorice triterpenoid compound glycyrrhizin and its derivatives: Molecular insights.”
