Nikolas Ritschel Foundation Nik discovered that Make-A-Wish ages out at 18. Nik found a gap in support, we aim to fill it

Inspired by Nik in 2012, our 501(c)(3) charity provides precious moments of joy - "Nik Wishes" - for young adults ages 18-24 and their families fighting cancer. Inspired by Nikolas Ritschel’s journey with synovial sarcoma, our mission is to provide opportunities to enrich the lives, stimulate encouragement, and strengthen the faith of adolescent & young adult cancer patients and their loved ones.

Nik’s journey taught us much about the power of Faith, Fun, Integrity, and Sharing. From him we witnessed the incredible impact one person can make – you just need to “Take One Step”. We strive to share those happy experiences with others who are similarly situated.

Sara is bravely fighting stage 4 breast cancer. A fight that no young adult asks for or expects to endure at a time in their life that should be filled with new beginnings and independence. 💔

Sara’s Wish Trip to Puerto Rico came at a time when she desperately needed joy and encouragement. Now she has renewed strength to continue her fight with JOY in her heart! You can help wishers just like Sara continue their fight at www.nikswish.org

From Sara: “When my Nurse Navigator told me to submit an application with Niks Wish I wasn’t very hopefully because I normally don’t get selected for gifts or raffles. When I got the call from Mr Barr that my wish was granted I thought it was a scam at first so I ignored the phone call LOL but he kept calling so I finally answered and I’m very happy that I did because it came at a perfect time. I was dealing with a death in my family and had the worst reaction to radiation and knowing that I had a trip to look forward to helped push me through treatment on the days where I didn’t feel like going. I was so excited to share with my care team that I was finally traveling and taking some much needed “me time” and they were excited for me as my oncologist would tell me “theres no need to be a hermit Sara”. When I received my care package I cried like a baby I was overwhelmed, it didn’t feel real I was very grateful. I read some of Niks poems but what really made me cry was all the things with “Bring Joy” on them and it reminded me how this journey made that hard but it also reminded me that I wanted to change that not just for me but others as well so thank you Nik. I especially enjoyed the UTV excursion, I have never laughed so much in my life that was so much fun. We all agreed that was the most fun although my brother had a lot more fun kayaking seeing as he’s stronger than us all. I have a lot more courage to keep fighting and living everyday because of this trip and I am eternally grateful for everyone at Niks Wish.”

Isabel has fought this awful battle before.

She was initially diagnosed with cancer when she was younger and says "When I was younger life just seemed to fly by. I knew I had cancer but I didn’t know I had it as severe as I did - to me I was still able to play and be somewhat of a normal kid. But as I got older it was all a blur. This time around being 18, it felt like some one put me in jail."

Cancer takes so much from our wishers - including their first taste of independence. At a time when they should be learning to fly on their own, their lives are often put on hold. That's when JOY matters most! Our mission it to deliver joy to wishers just like Isabel. 🌻

♥ From Isabel: "Getting the opportunity to visit Oahu was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. There honestly aren't enough words to express how grateful I am for this amazing opportunity and for everyone who made it possible.

The past few years have been filled with challenges. Having to celebrate two previous birthdays while going through cancer treatment was incredibly difficult, and this year marked my third birthday with cancer. However, instead of spending my birthday focused on treatments and appointments, I was able to celebrate my 21st birthday in Hawaii with my family and making memories that I will cherish forever. This trip gave me something joyful to focus on and it truly felt like a gift that made up for so many difficult moments.

One of the most meaningful parts of the trip was that my family got to experience it with me. Knowing that my parents were also able to enjoy this trip made it even more special. My mom put her own life on hold to become my caregiver, and my dad became the sole provider for our family overnight. Watching them relax, smile, and experience Hawaii was just as rewarding as the trip itself. For a few days, they were able to set aside the stress that cancer brings and simply enjoy being together as a family.

It's hard to choose a favorite part because every moment felt special. I loved watching the fireworks, seeing the sunsets over the ocean, spending time in the sun, and being able to relax and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii.

Those days felt like the perfect amount of time to experience some of the incredible culture and scenery

This trip gave my family and me memories that I will always be thankful for."

Just 5 months into marriage, Eli started having symptoms. After many months of testing and unclear results the results were official: cancer. 💔 The diagnosis came while welcoming their new baby girl - a time that should have been filled with only happiness and excitement for their bright future as a family.

Although we can't change those heartbreaking moments for Eli and his family - we were able to deliver joy and precious moments that will last a lifetime.

❤ From Eli's family: "Thank you so much for the incredible gift you gave our family. We are beyond grateful for the unforgettable trip to Orlando that you sponsored for my husband and our family.

Because of your generosity, we were able to enjoy beautiful time together at the villa, visit Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, and create memories that we will cherish forever. From the flights to the rental car and every thoughtful detail in between, everything was arranged with such care and kindness.

This trip brought our family so much joy, laughter, comfort, and togetherness during a time when it was deeply needed. Seeing the smiles on our faces and being able to spend quality time together meant more than words can express.

Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and for making such meaningful experiences possible for families like ours. Your kindness truly made a lasting impact on us, and we will always remember this special gift with gratitude."

Delivering joy is a marathon, not a sprint at Nik’s Wish. 🏃 The behind the scenes process starts long before the big wish reveal. We coordinate with our volunteer team, put together wish boxes, start planning and communicating with our Wisher’s loved ones…and that’s just the start!

Our wisher, Rafith, recently received his wish box and already, the Nik’s Wish JOY effect is in motion. 😉❤️

“I have received the Camera including some amazing gifts. Thank you so much for the camera from Niks Wish. I truly appreciate your kindness and thoughtful gift. It really means a lot to me, and I’m very grateful for your support.”
