Carpenters Local 792 was thrilled to celebrate with some of our new journeymen at the 2026 Apprentice Graduation Ceremony held on October 3 at Navy Pier.

Carpenters Local 792 is sad to share that our friend and Brother Tom Rose passed on September 29. Tom was a 41-year member of the Local and served on our executive board as Conductor, Financial Secretary, and as a delegate to the regional council over several years prior to his retirement. We send our deepest sympathies to Tom's family.

Carpenters Local 792 is actively seeking experienced scaffold builders with nuclear experience for the Byron Nuclear Outage. OSHA 10 and UBC scaffolding certification required. Must be able to pass a federal background check and drug testing.

Start date end of September. Will be 7 days, 12 hours daily for up to 30 days work. Local 792 commercial rates apply: $49/check, $25.50 for pension and supplemental retirement. No per diem.

A beautiful day to celebrate Union Labor! The Carpenters, as usual, were well represented - having one of the largest (if not the largest) amount of members in the Rockford Labor Day Parade! Members and their family members enjoyed games, rides, splash pads trolley rides, great food, live music and a classic car show as well. If you have pictures from the day - please share them!

Members: Reminder that Monday is Labor Day.

Line up for the Labor Day parade is at 9 AM at the corner of 5th Ave. and 6th St. The parade starts at 10 AM. T-shirts will be handed out at the parade site to our members & their family members who are marching starting at 8:30 AM. Do not go to the Labor Temple!

The WE ARE ONE Labor Day Picnic will be held at Rockford City Market Pavillion & Grounds immediately following the parade until 2 pm. We will have games & rides for the kids, live music, & a classic car show. Food & Drink tickets will be passed out to members & their families at the parade.

Members - with sadness, we share the loss of our Brother and dear friend Jim Emerson who passed away on August 6th. Jim was a 39 year member of Local 792 and served for many years on our Executive Board as recording secretary. Prior to his retirement, Jim was an instructor at the Carpenters Training Center - Rockford Campus. He will be deeply missed and we send our condolences to his family.

Congratulations Cris!

We always known that union carpenters are some of the toughest people out there so it should come as no surprise that we can call one of our own a Golden Gloves Champion! Brother Cris Gonzalez of Local 792 in Rockford has a unique story. Cris (blue trunks) joined our Brotherhood after meeting Representative/Organizer Jaime Sanchez at Rockford Patriot’s Boxing Club, where Jaime is a coach. Jaime developed a program where his club’s best and most dedicated boxers with a proven work ethic would be given the opportunity to join. It didn’t take long for Cris to prove himself and earn a reputation for being skilled, reliable and eager to learn. He was running projects halfway through his apprenticeship and now is a proud journeyman, who in his spare time became a Golden Gloves Champion! Congrats Brother! Keep making your union proud. You can learn more about Cris and other boxers in the MACRC in our upcoming season of Built to Last which starts airing Oct. 31.
