Birds of a Feather: two great organizations working together!

Carpenter’s Place was awarded a grant from the Rockford Park District, which enables our guests to partake in various Park District programs that they otherwise may not have the opportunity to experience. Recently, the Atwood Center’s Birds of Prey program visited CP, bringing along with some feathered friends. This program allowed our guests to learn about various birds and engage with questions. The trainer shared that all the birds in the program suffer from previous ailments and can no longer survive on their own in the wild. Thank you, Rockford Park District, for providing our guests with this unique learning experience!

DONATION DRIVE: As part of the nationwide commemoration of America's 250th Anniversary, Rockford's 250th "Celebrating Through Service" Committee is inviting residents to come together to support neighbors experiencing homelessness through a city-wide donation drive and volunteer packing event.

The committee's goal is to collect enough essential items to assemble 500 care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness in the Rockford area.

Community members are encouraged to donate any of the following items by June 30, 2026:

• Lip balm
• Deodorant
• Individual tissue packets
• Travel-size lotion
• White socks (ankle or crew)
• Granola bars
• Packs of gum

Donations can be dropped off at:
Carpenter's Place
1149 Railroad Avenue
Rockford, IL 61104

Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Once donations have been collected, residents are invited to help assemble the care packages during a special volunteer event at Rockford City Market on Friday, July 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The "pack-as-you-go" volunteer station will allow community members to stop by, pack care boxes for as long as they are able, and then continue enjoying the market. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.

The effort is part of Rockford's local America 250 celebration, which encourages residents to honor the nation's past by investing in the future through acts of service, volunteerism, and community involvement.

ROBERT W. BAIRD DELIVERS...

Robert W. Baird Wealth Management recently held an event for their clients to give back to the community. Carpenter’s Place was one of the recipients of this event. CP's Rani, pictured with some of the Baird company staff, took in many in-kind items (such as toilet paper and cups), as well as many financial gifts. Special Thanks to Robert W. Baird for including us in this wonderful event!

CELEBRATING MAY BIRTHDAYS!
Carpenter’s Place loves to celebrate special events with our guests. Birthdays are a wonderful opportunity to recognize these important milestones. In May, we celebrated with Gary, Crystal, Vernon and Brian through song and a small gift. CP wishes each of these special guests all of God’s many blessings!
