We were the first hospice provider in our region and one of the first 50 hospices in the nation. While all hospices in the U.S. The answer is yes.

are mandated by the federal government to provide certain services to terminally ill individuals, not all hospices are the same. We were one of the first hospices in the United States, and since 1979, thousands of families have turned to us for quality end of life care. We often hear from area physicians and nursing facilities we provide hospice care the way it should be done. What matters most to

all families is whether we will take care of their loved ones in the best way possible. That is our commitment to you.

We are so proud to serve DeKalb County!

Last month during the Give DeKalb County Fundraiser, many donors pitched in to help us raise $14,299 for Northern Illinois Hospice programs and services! That’s nearly double what we raised last year and included many new donors.

There’s still time! You can still create a special huggable reminder of your loved one! There are still spaces open for our upcoming Memorial Pillow Workshop.

The workshop is a heartwarming event designed to help you create a personalized pillow you’ll treasure. Simply bring a button-down shirt or T-shirt belonging to your loved one. Then experienced sewers will be on hand to help you craft the perfect, personalized pillow.

This free event is coming up on Saturday, June 27, at the DeKalb Public Library. Two sessions will be offered from 9:30-10:30 am or 10:45-11:45 am.

Check out those "tangles!"

Last week staff had the chance to participate in a creative support event, led by Sue Rankin, LCSW, with a focus on Zentangle - a meditative drawing technique that fosters creativity and relaxation.

The group learned a simple set of pen strokes called "tangles" and then used the technique to help reduce anxiety and release stress.

Special thanks to Sue and our whole bereavement team for helping to facilitate ways our staff can be creative but also destress!
