Attention - Error in Newsletter! - Garage Sale Info

There was an error in the newsletter. The phone number listed should end in 5782. It was printed incorrectly. We know that all residents are not on Facebook, so if you have any neighbors trying to join the sale, please help them get in contact with the lead.

I don't want to publish the full number here for obvious reasons. I hope that anyone that wants to participate sees the date and just makes it happen. The listing that is published is a great tool, but having great sales really drives the word of mouth and foot traffic. We've been trying to push people to the specifics garage sale page for a couple years, so hopefully that helps drive more traffic.

The swimming pond is now open for the summer season. Please help keep the pond and beach area clean by picking up beach toys and properly disposing of all garbage. We also ask that residents and guests stay off of and do not remove any rocks from the natural filtration area, as they are essential to maintaining the pond’s water quality.

The pond is open exclusively to residents of Spring Lake Estates and their guests when accompanied by a resident.

After all the rain we have had, the Rock River is under a no wake order. We are extending that same rule to the lake. Please keep speeds down so we do not create waves big enough to relocate the fish, redecorate the shoreline, or send someone's lawn chair into open water.

Help protect the wildlife and shoreline, enjoy the nice weather, and before anyone asks, yes this is a joke.

Please keep any eye to the sky and a way of getting alerts. We have a chance of getting some strong storms today.

Severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon through tonight from the southern Plains into the Midwest. Large to giant hail, several tornadoes (some strong), and severe gusts will be possible, particularly from Iowa into the southern Great Lakes. Visit weather.gov for the latest.

Final update on Annual Statements

All corrected statements have been emailed to those that reached out. We will also mail the remaining ones (I think we have two residents that we don't have any record of digital communication with new statements).

There were some minor updates related to interest charges on accounts that missed the payment deadline (but made payment in the proper calendar year). These are being handled by the accountant with a statement credit. We've had a few people that didn't realize they didn't pay last year that have called attention to the interest charges. Interest charges are added once we need to take action on a past due account. We do attempt to collect throughout the year when possible, but the last accountant left and disrupted the fall mailing. Overdue accounts are reviewed by the HOA lawyer to determine if additional actions should be taken. For accounts with growing balances, they try to collect and ultimately file a lien if they are unsuccessful.

At the bottom of every statement you'll notice a commitment to work with residents on payment plans if the timing or amount of the HOA dues is a problem. Generally, active payment plans can avoid interest if they execute on an approved payment plan. The best payment plan is one that works to move the account in the right direction over time, therefore, we work to approve plans presented by residents that meet that simple criteria. If you find yourself with a past due balance, please reach out to get a payment plan approved to avoid additional fees.
