Kirin Kane (they/them)
Kirin Kane is a mixed media sculptor and installation artist based in Chicago. Kane holds a BFA from Northern Illinois University and has exhibited with Woman Made Gallery, Clay Art Center, and Belger Arts. Currently, they are the Director of Ceramics Programming at Lillstreet Art Center alongside their teaching practice.

Carving Bas-Relief
Bring dimension to functional and sculptures wares with bas-relief! Also known as low relief, this demonstration will showcase how to use shallow carving to create engaging surfaces on porcelain. Our demonstrator will walk through how to design, transfer, and then carve a design.

Caitlin Mary Margarett Sørensdatter (née Brainard) (she/her/hers)

Caitlin Mary Margarett Sørensdatter is an American artist working in performance and contemporary craft. She holds an MFA from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 4D, and a BFA/BA in performance and art history from University of Northern Iowa. She is currently tenure-track faculty at Rock Valley College, in Rockford, Illinois.

In this demonstration, CMM will be explaining resist methods for decorating ceramic surfaces and sprig application. This demo shows wax, paper, and vinyl methods alongside plaster moulds.
