The following are IEA initiatives that have passed both chambers as of May 22 and are headed to the Governor’s desk. This week is the last week of session.

SB 2913-Student Growth Trailer
SB 2914-Notice to Remedy
SB 2918- Parent Teacher Advisory/Remedies for Battered Teachers (combined these two initiatives)
SB 4010- TRS Credit Parochial School Interest Rate

The bills below have passed the Senate and are awaiting a House vote. The IEA does not anticipate any issue with these bills moving forward.

SB 2909-Restricting AI use in evaluations
SB 2953-Retired Substitute Teacher/TRS 120 day return to work

IEA's legislation on Notice to Remedy, SB 2914, passed out of the Illinois House of Representatives. It passed the Illinois Senate in April, and both chambers passed the bill with veto-proof majorities. It now awaits Gov. JB Pritzker’s signature to become law.

The peanut butter barrels are still at the REA office (as of noon Wed). If you have time to drop off a jar or two, it would be much appreciated. We would LOVE to send three FULL barrels back to the pantry. Winners to be announced soon.

Thank you to the 10 buildings and the retirees that donated peanut butter and/or made monetary donations to our challenge. As of 4:10 yesterday the barrels were still at the REA office. If you still have a donation your building would like to make, you probably could add it. I will update with pick up date for barrels once I confirm it. We were unable to reach our goal of filling three barrels.

The barrels are filling up, but we still have room for more. Please consider adding a couple jars to this weekend's shopping list and get them to REA office by end of day Tuesday. Thanks for your support.
