Rockford Sharefest Rockford Sharefest exists to identify, develop and lead projects that empower and release volunteers

Since 2007 more than 6,000 people have discovered the joy of service and the impact they can have on their community. Volunteers take vacation time, rearrange their schedules, post-pone trips just so they can be a part of this powerful project. They no longer refer to “the schools” but call them “our schools”. Many have launched initiatives of their own with other schools and agencies within the

community that need their help. School administrators and teachers have felt the lift of people serving, encouraging and believing in them. Parents have attended the school open houses in record numbers and have continued their involvement with their kids’ education throughout the year. Students have a new sense of pride that has shown in their behavior and performance. Each of the schools that have been restored has reported:

■Increased student test scores
■Increased parental involvement
■Decreased discipline incidents
■Increased pride in school (demonstrated by the near elimination of graffiti and vandalism)

RPS District 205 now has 8 schools that have been restored and updated. This, at a time when the facilities operations budget is in a deficit and the work backlog exceeds $90 million. The work done has been beyond anything the district could afford.

We're kicking off November with a Stroll on State Countdown. Let's do this!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and soon we will be gathering together once again for the 2021 Stroll on State, presented by Illinois Bank & Trust. The day will be filled with Merry & Bright fun! Speaking of Merry & Bright, over the next few weeks we will be prepping and getting ready to deck the “halls” of downtown Rockford during our Stroll on State Decoration Days this November 19 and 20.

SAVE THE DATE for STROLL ON STATE.... Decoration Days!

It's almost that magical time of year once again where we adorn downtown Rockford with Merry & Bright decorations. Mark your calendars for Friday, Nov. 19th & Saturday, Nov. 20th! This is no small feat, it will require lots of volunteers so bring yourself and please consider inviting others to join. 🎄⛄️

Know Before You Go:
❄️When: There are 2 volunteer shifts each day ➡️ 8 a.m. - noon & 1 - 5 p.m. (You can sign up for one, some or all shifts).
❄️Where: Check-in at Rockford Sharefest, 310 S. Winnebago, Rockford
❄️Wear warm clothes (we will be outside).
❄️Masks will be required and COVID recommendations will be followed.
