Happy Juneteenth! ๐ŸŽ‰โœŠ

On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare the end of the Civil War and the liberation of approximately 250,000 enslaved individuals in Texas. This momentous occasion occurred two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Junior League of Rockford commemorates the emancipation of ALL enslaved individuals in the U.S. Let's reflect on history and promote unity and equality.
