Hi everyone
I really loved the Navy Club in Rockford it was my second home. Lots of things have changed in the past year. Especially with my health. I'm getting better a day at a time. Some days are better than others well so much about me. The Navy Club is a great place with great places to go. I hope all the new people coming in love it as much as me. treat it with respect and dignity and you will get great rewards. I love you all and miss you's have a great year. ⚓️❤️

Im doing better since my stroke. still having trouble walking and using my rt hand and arm. One day at a time. Trying to survive the cold weather. I heard Spring is right around the corner. So SMILE be happy life is good. 😊⚓️🌞

everyone. I have been under the weather for awhile. I had knee surgery in july and I was recovering from that then had a stroke in DEC and in hospital 14 days. home recoverying doing therapy. dr said it will take 8months to a year to recovery.
one day at a time. doing better. hugs to all

Here is the Wildcat recovered in December 2012 out of Lake Michigan. It looks rough but looking at the original paint job, the original markings, the Navy insignia it really gives you chills!

On June 6, 1944, the Allied forces land troops on Normandy beaches for the largest amphibious landing in history -- Operation Overlord (D-Day) -- beginning the march eastward to defeat Germany. In a larger strategic sense, the successful Allied landing in France is a psychological blow to the German occupation of Europe and calls into question the German Army's ability to control Western Europe. The Allied invasion dramatically increases partisan activity against enemy occupation, and increases morale for those fighting against N**i tyranny. Soviet offensives into Poland also aid Allied favor. From that point on, the Allies begin the drive into Germany and ultimately destroy the N**i regime on May 7, 1945.

The Battle of Midway, 71 years ago this week, was a historic milestone against fascism and for freedom. It was a watershed moment for aviation, too, proving the era of battleships was ending and the time of naval aviation and aircraft carriers had begun. The Battle of Midway showed the spirit of a bonded and enervated force, dedicated to working together using new technology and exploring innovative new tactics to achieve victory for the common good.
Forty years ago this year USS Midway (CV 41) arrived in its new forward deployed port of Yokosuka Japan...
