Keeping in mind the health and safety of the players and their family members, tonight’s games and tomorrow’s games are cancelled.

We will decide at some point in the future as to when or if these games will be made up later.

So far, next week’s games will be played. If we decide to cancel those games, we will send you an email letting you know.

Chester, beloved Certified TDI Therapy Dog, has died unexpectedly from complications arising from emergency surgeries to remove a metal rod that had been fed to him with a soft dog treat skewered onto it.
Chester was an active member of Therapy Dogs International (aka TDI), an established not-for-profit volunteer organization which regulates, tests, registers and trains dogs and their handlers in all 50 states. During his career, Chester was
awarded every working title Therapy Dogs International offered.

In April of 2012, Chester was one of three members of TDI nominated for The United Way of the Rock River Valley for Group Volunteer of the Year Award by the Flodin unit of the Rockford Boys & Girls Club for his participation in establishing a reading with dogs program that continues today. Chester was also recognized in 2012 through the Rockford Public Schools, with the Horace Mann-Those Who Excel Award and a Golden Apple Grant Recipient as a participant in a Tail Waggin’ Tutor Program at Cherry Valley Elementary School. Also, in 2012 The American Kennel Club recorded Chester as being a recognized TDI Certified Therapy Dog as well.

During his career as a TDI Certified Therapy Dog, he and Jane made several public speaking appearances at Rock River Kiwanis Clubs in Rockford and the Shadley Apartments in Belvidere. Chester & Jane volunteered at Barnes & Noble for many local elementary school book fairs.

Together as a team they volunteered at the Flodin Unit of Rockford Boys & Girls Club, Cherry Valley Elementary, Washington Academy, a STEM School in Belvidere, Poplar Grove Elementary in Poplar Grove, Cherry Valley Library- Books & Barks, Cherry Valley, Gigi’s Playhouse, Machesney Park, The Keen Age Center in Belvidere, Lifescapes Adult Day Programs, Rockford, Provena Adult Day Center Freeport, Provena Saint Anne Center Rockford, and Heartland Hospice, Janesville Wisconsin.

Chester & Jane also made private one on one visits to home/facility bound individuals at: Wesley Willows in Rockford, Heritage Woods in Rockford and personal residential locations. The medical expense is understandingly overwhelming.

A big THANK YOU to WIPFLi CPAs and Consultants for spending some quality volunteering time here at Flodin Boys & Girls Club this today.
On top of weeding the front door area they helped cleanup and landscape Borgnis Baseball Park.
We thank you all for coming to help and make our Club and the community a better place to be and live.
