We're excited about the results of the June Bioblitz at Silver Creek Woods Preserve. Thank you to everyone who participated, attended, and helped with surveying species. Read the wrap up report from Alan Branhagen here:

More than 750 species of larger life forms: slime molds to fungi, plants, invertebrates from planaria to insects, and vertebrates from fish to birds and mammals were documented at the Natural Land Institute’s Silver Creek Woods Preserve during its bioblitz on June 19 and 20, 2026.

We're thinking about mammals today. Specifically shrews. Can you see the tiny shrew in the yellow circle? This photo is from a trail cam set up in a no kill mammal trap at Silver Creek Woods Preserve It was caught on camera on April 10th. Shrews are only 2 - 3 inches in length.

Alan (NLI Executive Director) found this gem, a Green Dragon, growing at Silver Creek Woods Preserve when he went there today to do some research to get ready for the BioBlitz to be held here on June 19 and 20. This is an uncommon woodland wildflower and extremely exciting when you see it. What will you find when you go to BioBlitz?
