To know New Jersey is to love it. Spending years of summers at the shore has become a huge part of so many of us. The scenes of destruction from Hurricane Sandy along a cherished summer spot, or place to call home have been completely heartbreaking. Countless numbers of our fellow New Jerseyans have lost homes, businesses, and even their lives. To be from New Jersey or to even be someone that has
come to love this state means being strong, loyal, pushing back when you get knocked down, and, fighting for what’s important to you. I know there are many out there hurting, feeling helpless, and wanting to help. We’re looking at the uphill battle our state will have to face to bring the shore back to action. In a poor economy it is going to be harder than ever to come back from something this leveling. This page is being started to help band together volunteers; to be a hub of where to go to find out how you can help. We want to pool our resources and make sure they are getting to the right places and families affected. First we’ll be posting links and opportunities as they come up for anyone interested in physically getting down to hard hit areas to help out. Secondly, as this unfolds we’re looking for people who want to take action in their communities by having fundraisers, benefit concerts, car washes, anything to bring in support through school, sports, work, whatever. If you have an idea, bring it up and we’ll help get it off the ground together and connect you to the right people. We count ourselves blessed to have been brought up here and to be surrounded by people who want to make a difference. It’s time to use that strength and energy and give back. It will take many hearts and sets of hands to rebuild, but we are NJ Strong.
