Give Technology

Give Technology Our Mission: Provide a free device and affordable access to the Internet to everyone who needs it. The idea is simple: one man's trash is another's treasure!

Give Technology has created a model of giving which is essentially free to the donors, provides valuable skills for the recipients, utilizes no paid staff, and gets incredibly useful technology into the hands of those who need it most. 100% of equipment, monetary, and in-kind donations go directly to fund programs which help our recipients. We have no paid staff, so our only overhead costs are ass

ociated with the upgrades needed to repurpose our donated inventory. We want every penny to go toward helping those in need. Get in touch with us to talk about giving us your old technology, or use the contact form at the bottom of this page to let us know what you would like to donate and when and where we should pick it up. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) registered charity and all donations to us are 100% tax deductible as charitable contributions. Please see your tax advisor to determine the specifics of your tax situation.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit us at the Denville Green Fair this past weekend at the Farmers' Market. We met a lot of great people and said hello to many old friends and collected a lot of computer equipment which will help those in need. Thanks to our teen volunteers who stayed in the hot sun with us all morning! www.givetechnology.org

Congratulations to the Valleyview Middle School Green Team for today's first successful Green Fair. Thank you for including us in this worthwhile event. We were pleased to see so many community members and leaders in attendance, sharing sustainably programs and new ideas. Give Technology continuously accepts donations of used devices, and provides refurbished ones to those in need, allowing them to become more active members of the online world in which we all live and work. Please check your closets and drawers for those old computers and bring them to one of our drop off locations. They do not need to be in working condition. We train volunteers to troubleshoot problems with your used devices, often deemed broken or too slow, turning them into upgraded operating systems or Chromebooks.

Information on how to donate, apply for technology, suggest assistance for someone else, or volunteer yourself is available at www.givetechnology.org đź’»

Remnants of this and last month's SSD upgrades for notebooks. These will be physically ground up in an amazing machine meant to destroy hard disks. You might be surprised at how much faster an old computer can be if you max out the RAM and replace the slow hard disk with a solid state drive. From now until the end of February, our volunteers will upgrade your computer for you for only the cost of the components needed if you donate another similar computer to Give Technology. We have people waiting for donations and we need computers. Thank you!

This video of a ten-year-old boy from Argentina opening a gift from his parents is amazing. This video is from 2014 and it went viral then. As the holidays approach again, we thought it would be good to share it again to show how grateful others can be. Please help spread this type of joy by donating your old tablets and computers. After the holidays is great and all donations are always appreciated, but donating before the holidays can make someone’s dreams come true! You will also get a tax deduction for your charitable contribution in 2016. Thank you!

The video shows one of the most gracious children you will ever see. He sat down to open a Children’s Day gift from his parents. Sight unseen, he said thank you. After unwrapping his present, he saw his new cutting board. In Argentina, it is common practice for people to hang out near the grill when cooking so they can take a piece of meat as soon as it’s done. Everybody has their own cutting board (like his present) and a knife and fork. So, for him, the cutting board is a totally normal gift. This means he can be by the grill and eat with everyone else.

He hugged and kissed his mother and graciously thanked her for the gift. The boy knew that his parents had fallen on hard times and was just thankful to receive any gift. He wasn’t expecting anything else, but then his mother gave him another box which contained the thing he had wished and hoped for... a tablet. It wasn't an Apple iPad or Samsung Note. It was a generic $79 tablet that made his wildest dreams come true.

Watch gratitude in action and parenting done right!

100% of donated funds and collected items go directly to recipients. We teach skills to the recipients and they "pay" for their gifts by helping repair, update, and prepare computers for others. Some recipients use these new skills to earn money by fixing computers for others by setting up their own little businesses. If you have an old MacBook or Windows laptop gathering dust, there is a better use than as a paperweight. Some recent examples include: a 13 year old girl who couldn't do her schoolwork without a computer, but her single mother is barely scraping by working two jobs and couldn't afford to buy one; a WWII vet in a nursing home can't move around much anymore, but his mind is still sharp and he wants to learn and interact with the outside world - an old iPad 2 made a huge difference in his life; a displaced mother fleeing an abusive spouse needed to find a job and her two teenage children needed to do homework - a four year old PC is helping to make their dreams come true. When you buy your new computer, remember that your old "junk" computer is someone else's dream come true!

We are not to throw away those things which can benefit our neighbor. Goods are called good because they can be used for good: they are instruments for good, in the hands of those who use them properly. - Clement of Alexandria
