White Meadow Road House Fire – 6/10/2026

This afternoon at approximately 1:20 PM, a patrol unit in the area of White Meadow Road reported heavy smoke in the area with a possible house fire. Simultaneously, Rockaway Township Communications was receiving a 911 call reporting a house fire. 2026 Company 5 Summer BBQ

Yesterday afternoon, members of White Meadow Lake Company 5 and their families gathered at the firehouse for our annual Company BBQ.

Members enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, bratwurst, and plenty of salads and side dishes. More importantly, it was an opportunity for everyone to relax, spend time together, and enjoy the company of one another outside of emergency responses and training.

With great food, a few drinks, plenty of laughs, and even better company, it was a day well spent.

A special thank you to the White Meadow Lake Fire Company Auxiliary for organizing and running the event for our members and their families. Your hard work and continued support of Company 5 is greatly appreciated and helps make events like this possible.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day a success.

Boat Ramp Drill – 6/3/2026

Yesterday evening, members of White Meadow Lake Fire Company 5 conducted one of our monthly training drills.

Members trained on several important water rescue and firefighting operations. Crews launched Boat 5 and conducted training with our sonar system, helping members maintain proficiency in locating objects and potential victims beneath the water’s surface.

Members also practiced deploying marker buoys, an important skill used to assist dive teams in identifying and relocating areas of interest or potential victim locations during water rescue and recovery operations.

In addition, firefighters conducted drafting operations from White Meadow Lake using Engine 51. Drafting allows firefighters to establish a reliable water supply from a static water source, an important capability during firefighting operations where hydrants may not be readily available.

Regular training ensures our members remain prepared to provide the highest level of service to the residents and visitors of Rockaway Township.

Vehicle Extrication Drill – 5/27/2026

Last Wednesday, members of White Meadow Lake Fire Company #5 conducted training on vehicle extrication techniques.

Vehicle extrication involves many different skills and disciplines. During this drill, members focused on basic door removal (“door pops”), vehicle stabilization using cribbing techniques, and the operation of a K-12 saw. Members practiced using the K-12 saw to gain access through a vehicle’s hood, a technique commonly used during vehicle fires to access the engine compartment and extinguish hidden fire.

Regular hands-on training like this helps our members stay sharp, build confidence, and maintain the skills necessary to safely and effectively assist the residents and visitors of Rockaway Township when emergencies occur.

Interested in joining? Stop by our firehouse any Wednesday evening after 7:00 PM to learn more about becoming a volunteer firefighter. 🚒

Busy Morning for White Meadow Lake Fire Company #5

Members of Company 5 had a busy start to the day, responding to multiple incidents throughout the early morning hours.

Just after midnight, Company 5 was dispatched to a carbon monoxide alarm on Wenonah Ave. Shortly after, around 1:30 AM, members responded to an activated fire alarm on Fernwood Rd.

As the morning progressed, just before the rush hour around 6:45 AM, members handled multiple incidents in a short period of time:

• A motor vehicle accident on Route 80 in the area of MM 36
• An activated fire alarm on Green Pond Rd.
• A vehicle fire on Route 80, also in the area of MM 36

Engine 51 arrived on scene of the vehicle fire with an engine compartment fire. Crews quickly stretched an attack line and brought the fire under control.

Engine 51 and C2 responded to all of these incidents.

All of these calls occurred before 8:00 AM, keeping Company 5 members busy early in the day.
