Hello everyone! Hope Summerset from the housing authority reached out to see if anyone (scouts or others) may be interested in doing crafts or playing bingo with the low income seniors at Pleasant View Village in Rockaway?

We are seeking volunteers to assist at PVV by removing snow from the vehicles of seniors who have signed a waiver. A list detailing the make, model, and color of the cars will be provided to the volunteers. Teens will have access to the community room as a warming area, if necessary, and we can provide a letter documenting their community service hours. We recognize that volunteers can only come to the site when the roads are cleared, and we will inform the seniors accordingly at that time.

Hi all!!

It has been awhile but we are in need of some volunteers!!

With the incoming snowy season upon us, we’d like to put together an email/phone number list for the director at PVV to use to help the residents clear off, dig out, and shovel.

Hope, the director, is also able to offer students the ability to earn community service hours.

Daisy Troop 7997 made incredible springtime art for our Rockaway senior citizens. These 1st graders cut, pasted and colored everything from bunny puppets to 3-D flowers. Thank you girls and please know you're making people smile and the world can always use more of that! A very special thank you also to Leanne Pedlar Boer, along with the other troop leaders, for orchestrating this crafting time.

An overdue thanks goes to our generous donor who sponsored an Easter meal for our seniors last week. HUGE portions of Chicken Parmesan and a side salad was made by our long-time and generous supporter Anthony's Pizzeria & Family Restaurant. Please support Anthony as he has been amazingly generous to our program. hard to believe Last week marked the 1 year anniversary of our first meal. Amazing how much support we have had from the community! If you would like to support a meal in honor of a loved one, sponsor birthday gifts or just want to brighten a seniors’s day- please reach out to us! Every so often we like to put feelers out to see who might be interested in becoming a monthly caller for Supporting Our Seniors. The commitment involves making calls once or twice a month to the senior citizens at Pleasant View Village in Rockaway. You can call as few as one resident or as many as 10. You choose! The main reason we reach out is to tell them about their monthly Interfaith Food Pantry delivery - when it's coming and what time to get it. Then sometimes, there's an additional call if we have a special holiday meal. Get in touch if you're interested and thanks for following us!

Look at these beautiful heart suncatchers that Bonnie from Georgia's Stained Glass Werks in Rockaway Borough made for our seniors! We’ve decided to work with her over the coming months to provide one of these beauties to each of our seniors celebrating birthdays. They’re such a treat and the quality of the glass reveals a unique design that’s further accented when light shines through. If anyone would like to sponsor a month of birthdays, please let us know.
