Update February 2014 - We have become a program under We Care NY; a 501c3 non-profit to provide services, support and supplies to those in need. January 2014- We will be hosting monthly FREE Flea Markets every 3rd Saturday of the month to help any and all families in need of supplies. (Such as, but not limited to: clothing, small household items, groceries, books, etc.) We will do all we can to he
lp families in between our monthly events as best we can. While still providing any and all community resource information we can. Update November 2013 - Still going strong here in the relief world. We are also still matching donors with families in need of in-kind donations throughout the area. We are becoming more involved in the community and the long term recovery as well. October 2013 - We are currently looking for a space to continue our operations. If you know a place locally that would host us for collecting, sorting and distribution please let us know. Until then we will store donations in our friends homes for now to continue every Sunday in the backyard of the old store front. The Free Flea ladies are active in the community and will continue to help families on an as needed basis. September 2013- We have since scaled back on our huge distribution - We are now open every Sunday roughly 1-4 pm. We are hoping to distributing mainly non perishable foods and some household items. Books and toys are always welcome. We are down to just two racks of clothing (so only some clothing is accepted) We hold special events for our local kids and keep the public updated. We are still here to aid the community and love the support from near and far!

Was informed I should give a description of exactly what we are doing so here goes- To my knowledge there are no distribution sites on the West End of Rockaway (from the Crossbay Bridge and up - to the right) Mama Rose n the crew have kept in touch with our local residents - neighbors and strangers and have come to learn while we are rebuilding many need some assistance getting through daily life - We do everything we can to get donations from warm winter clothes, jackets, blankets, non-perishable foods, baby diapers/wipes, hygiene products and cleaning supplies to ASSIST our community. We also serve hot food (thanks to Occupy Bay Ridge kitchen) Many have lost income on top of this all and myself included could use this assistance. We are limited to doing this only once a week on Saturdays (for lack of locations due to rebuilding and repairs all over). We do accept and store donations through out the week and even pick up depending on location - We ask that everyone spread the word and come show support- and pick up supplies as needed. A little about how it is set up - in case you have not made it yet - We have about 8 tables set up in a private yard/driveway - we stock the tables to the max and then refill as needed or as available - We ask that our neighbors and strangers use their discretion on "overloading" and take what they honestly need- We are here to HELP not HURT. In the event you can not make it and honestly need some supplies please do not hesitate to contact me as I have no problem making a care package on an as needed basis - Also respect I am one person and can do but so much! Thank you again and hope to see you all there. We also have an Amazon registry in the posts below!
