Tomorrow, downtown LaFayette comes alive for the 2026 Honeybee Festival.
From 9 AM until late in the evening, the streets will be packed with live music, local artists and makers, good food, kids activities, and plenty of hometown charm. You’ll hear music drifting through downtown, smell barbecue and kettle corn in the air, and probably run into half the county before the day’s over.

It’s free, family-friendly, and one of those days that just feels like summer in small-town Georgia.

There’s a certain kind of quiet up on Lookout Mountain that you just can’t find anywhere else. Lula Lake Land Trust Open Gate Days are May 30–31 and June 6–7, and the waterfalls will be showing off this time of year.

The preserve closes at 5 PM, and they stop letting folks in after 2 PM, so give yourself time to wander awhile. Dogs are welcome too, as long as they stay leashed and mind their manners!

A big day for Walker County! 🎉

Today we celebrated the dedication of the John Culpepper Chickamauga Battlefield Connector Trail — a project that represents collaboration, connectivity, outdoor recreation, tourism, and continued investment in our community’s future.

The new connector creates an exciting link between the City of Chickamauga and the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park while enhancing accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to all of the community leaders, partners, organizations, and supporters who helped make this vision a reality. From planning and funding to advocacy and development, this project reflects what can happen when organizations come together with a shared purpose.

We’re proud to see another step forward in making Walker County an even better place to live, work, and explore. 🚴‍♀️🚶‍♂️🌳

Some places just quiet a person down. Cloudland Canyon State Park is one of those places.

You get up there on the edge of the canyon, the wind moving through the trees, and suddenly nobody’s in a hurry anymore. There’s a little bit of everything here — easy walks to overlooks, long staircases down to waterfalls, mountain bike trails, campgrounds, yurts, and enough fresh air to straighten out a bad week.
