Today we honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families forever changed, and the first responders and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage in our city’s darkest hours.

The skyline has changed, but the memories never will.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. ā¤ļøšŸ¤šŸ’™

The Casper Police Department is partnering with law enforcement agencies across Natrona County to keep impaired drivers off our roads this Labor Day holiday.

During the 2024 Labor Day holiday (6 p.m. September 1 - 5:59 a.m. September 5), there were 505 crash fatalities nationwide. Of those people, 170 (34%) were killed in crashes that involved at least one alcohol-impaired driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or above.

Among drivers between the ages of 18 and 34 who were killed in crashes over the Labor Day holiday in 2024, 40% of those drivers were drunk, with BACs of .08 or above.

Do not drive impaired.

🐾Happy National Dog Day!🐾

If you happen to meet a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper, no matter the rank, more than likely they are a dog person. We šŸ’– our pups here at WHP. Here they aren't just companions, they are fellow troopers. Sniffing out drugs, explosives, weapons, you name it. These primed performance pups do their job with a passion that matches their partners in keeping our roads safe.

On the front lines of public safety, excellence isn’t just a goal; it is a daily standard. 🐾⚔

Canine Trooper Zoey recently put her elite narcotic detection skills on full display. She proved exactly why the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s K-9 team is one of the most formidable forces against illicit trafficking in the region.

Operating across the state, these highly trained troopers and their dedicated canine partners spearhead two critical missions: criminal interdiction and explosive detection. From dismantling local and international drug-smuggling rings to protecting government buildings and high-profile dignitaries, these elite teams work tirelessly to keep Wyoming communities safe.

ā€œThe skill and readiness of these K-9 units are incredible,ā€ said U.S. Attorney Darin Smith. ā€œWe share an unbreakable partnership between the United States Department of Justice, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Together, we stand paw-in-hand, as an unstoppable front to dismantle criminal networks and safeguard our communities.ā€

If you choose to drink this weekend, DON’T DRIVE!

Our deputies will be working overtime this Labor Day Weekend to get impaired drivers off the roads and keep everyone safe. There is zero excuse for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Before you start celebrating, make sure you plan for a sober ride home.

Driving impaired—whether from alcohol, ma*****na, or other drugs—will land you in jail. Let's celebrate Labor Day responsibly!

Solemn Memory…..

Thirty-three years ago today, Lieutenant Harley Mark was tragically killed in the line of duty while serving our community. He was fatally wounded in a vehicle accident while attempting to apprehend a violent offender who had perpetrated great harm against our community.

Lieutenant Mark left behind an indelible imprint of his character and kindness on his family, our agency, and the community of Torrington.

May his service, honor, and sacrifice never be forgotten.

Rounding out our 2026 In the Eye of the Storm Conference was a case study on a case from right here in Wyoming.

Sergeant Phillip Smith from Jackson Police Department discussed an ATM robbery case that turned out to be part of nationwide organized crime. This proves that Wyoming, although small and being the least populated state, is not immune to a major crime. The work and partnership of many local, state, and federal agencies brought not only the Jackson case, but many others to a close.

Thank you to all of our attendees, vendors, sponsors, and especially presenters for making this conference a success!

We are already making plans for the 2027 conference, so stay tuned!
