Again, Rock Springs we can do better. Despite the signs with clear examples of accepted plastic, someone placed auto body pieces in our plastics trailer.

This costs us time AND money as we now have to get these to the landfill.

GREAT NEWS!!!

We are open for all ACCEPTED materials. The baler is back in service. PLEASE only bring us materials we accept and place them where they belong. We have a new drop-off layout with all new signage. Below is information on the layout and the materials we accept. Thank you for your patience as we worked through this issue. We would also like to thank those in our community who complied with our request to terminate drop-offs during this period.

We have been asked if we need volunteers. The answer is always yes. The answer is a louder yes for the next week or so as we expect to be inundated with everyone's recycling. Send us a PM if you are interested in helping out.

8/11/2026 5:00 pm UPDATE...

We are getting closer folks! The baler has largely been reassembled and will undergo PMs and testing tomorrow. We hope to be able to begin accepting all products by the end of the day tomorrow or Thursday morning. Stay tuned here for updates.

In the meantime, we ARE accepting all materials on our accepted materials list EXCEPT cardboard at this time. We have left the no drop-offs sign next to the massive cardboard pile with the hope that it will dissuade folks from dropping off cardboard until we re-open acceptance of it.

Please place the materials in the proper location at the Center. All of the trailers and bins have new signage that show what goes where. You can also see the pinned post at the top of our page that shows all of this as well. Thank you all for your patience as we have worked through this situation. We are coming out of this stronger than we have ever been.

We have several folks and businesses to thank for there efforts during this period. We have not forgotten you, we simply wanted to wait until we were re-opened to avoid confusion. Stay tuned for those public thanks in the coming days!

8/10/2026 10:30 am UPDATE...

We were just notified that the technician will be returning to Rock Springs tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11th from Denver along with a completely rebuilt ram. It will take the better part of a day to get the ram reinstalled, calibrated and tested. This will likely mean we will be able to re-open to all drop-offs by Wednesday afternoon. In the meantime, we CAN begin to accept the following drop-offs: Plastics, Aluminum Cans, Tin Cans, Mixed Paper, and EPS Foam. WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT CARDBOARD UNTIL THE BALER IS REPAIRED.

We will make a separate post that will be pinned to the top of our page that reminds folks what materials we can accept and where it should be dropped off (the outside drop-off has a new layout with new signage). It is our hope that we can use this restart in accepting materials to do a better job as a community of only bringing us the materials we accept. Every pound of materials dropped off at the Center that we do not accept, slows us down and costs our small non-profit operation more money. This limits our ability to expand our services and grow recycling in Sweetwater County. Help us help you!

As we have now re-opened for all drop-offs, we wanted to remind the community of what materials we accept and where they should be placed when dropping them off. If you do not see your items in the below list or images, we DO NOT ACCEPT it.

Accepted Products:

- Cardboard & Paperboard (Placed together)
- Mixed Paper
- Shredded Paper (Bagged)
- Aluminum Cans (Emptied)
- Tin Cans (Emptied/Rinsed)
- Plastic (Emptied/Rinsed Bottles, Jars, Jugs, Tubs)
- EPS Foam (Remove Tape & Stickers)

It is our hope that we can use this restart in accepting materials to do a better job as a community of only bringing us the materials we accept. Every pound of materials dropped off at the Center that we do not accept, slows us down and costs our small non-profit operation more money. Update...a huge thank you to Walter Majko and others for taking care of this for us today! We greatly appreciate the help! We also appreciate other that reached out and offered assistance including Jaysten Jefferies!

Alright Sweetwater County...

We could use some help. Would anyone be willing to deal with the pile of old pallets and wood for us? Feel free to use it for a project our haul to the landfill for us. We just need it gone.

Also...Thanks to a couple of our Board members for coming in and working over 20 man hours this weekend to help get the Center better organized and cleaned up!

P.S. This is NOT an invitation to bring more pallets and junk wood to us. That is how we ended up with all of this in the 1st place.

WE DO NOT TAKE MATTRESSES, BOX SPRINGS, OR FURNITURE!!!!!!!!!!

We are not the landfill! Stop being lazy and dropping these items at the Center! If you live within Solid Waste District #1 (within the green on the map below), you can take your mattresses to the landfill for FREE. We now need to take one of our team members away from processing recycling and send them to the landfill to dispose of this. It is amazing that peoople wonder why we can't keep up!

Hey Rock Springs! Looking for something to do on Saturday (18th) morning? If so...come on down to the Center from 7 to 11 and lend a hand. We will be working on cleaning up some of the exterior as well as baling cardboard and could use a couple of extra hands. Even if it isn't for the full time period, we would love some help!
