Today, we’re excited to share a major milestone.
Skylark Community Arts Center has officially been recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The truth is, we’ve been operating with a nonprofit mindset from the beginning.
For years, we’ve intentionally kept our prices as low as possible to make professional recording, live events, and creative opportunities accessible to more people. Many of the programs, services, and events we’ve offered have only been possible because we’ve reinvested revenue back into the organization and personally absorbed costs to keep opportunities available for local artists and young people.
We did it because we believe creativity matters.
We believe young people deserve access to the arts.
We believe local artists deserve opportunities to grow, perform, and create close to home.
We believe a stronger arts community creates a stronger community for everyone.
Receiving our nonprofit status allows us to take the next step.
Our goal is to expand programs, increase access to the arts, develop educational opportunities, and build a sustainable organization that serves the Quad Cities for generations to come.
We also want to create jobs and invest in local talent. As Skylark grows, we hope to build a staff made up of passionate local professionals in areas such as music production, live sound, event management, marketing, education, and community outreach. We want to support artists not only on stage and in the studio, but behind the scenes as well.
This milestone belongs to everyone who has supported Skylark along the way. Every artist who recorded here. Every person who attended a show. Every volunteer, donor, partner, and friend who believed in what we were building.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.
Create. Connect. Inspire.
