Mike Clark was a supervisor at the St. Joseph Evening Meal for over 25 years (maybe as many as 30+). May he rest in peace. Visitation and funeral arrangements can be found in the comments.

We are saddened to share that Mike Clark, our longest standing parish volunteer and director of the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, passed away last night.

If it weren't for Mike, the Sacred Heart Food Pantry might not exist. While the pantry was started in the 1940's, it was Mike who was its caretaker for more than 50 years. His daily devotion to the pantry — often involving daily trips to Riverbend Food Bank or the grocery store to get what the pantry needed — and commitment to those in need, ensured this essential ministry was there to meet the needs of the people.

Mike was the perfect example of servant leadership. He deflected attention from himself and refused honors, concerned far more with the well-being of those who visited the food pantry. Besides his incredible work at the pantry, Mike was also a regular volunteer at our parish, and led our offertory money counting efforts for many years.

In recent months and especially in the most recent weeks, we've seen a record need at the food pantry, and we just wrapped up our annual Christmas Gift and Food Basket Ministry that Mike led for decades. We shared with Mike's family that we wanted him to know that we would ensure his good work with the Sacred Heart Food Pantry was being continued.

Every parish — and every family — should be so lucky to have a Mike Clark. We as a parish family are committed to continuing his legacy and work at the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, serving those most in need, and living out the call of Jesus Christ to live for others.

May perpetual light shine upon Mike.
