Sheltered would like to take time to recognize and thank our volunteers. We are grateful for those who choose to give generously of their time, talents, and financial support.
Dakota has been volunteering for Sheltered for almost one year. He was attending church with a friend at a service in which Jamie Miller, Sheltered's Executive Director, was sharing with the congregation about the Sheltered ministry. As he sat in the church pew that morning, he could appreciate what Sheltered's mission is, for he knows and understands, first hand, the challenges homeless individuals face on a daily basis.
Galatians 6:2 is a Scripture verse that holds special meaning to Dakota, and it is very relevant to his strong desire to serve the homeless in Lancaster. "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
It is important to Dakota that the individuals they help know "That it doesn't matter how 'dirty' they are, or whatever their problem is. I love them, Jesus loves them, and they're not alone."
Dakota has lived in Lancaster most of his life. In addition to volunteering with Sheltered, he has several jobs--a bail bondsman, a bounty hunter, and a tow truck operator. However, his favorite and most important job of all is being a Daddy to his son and daughter.
