Final Bike Nite of the season for the Knights Order LEMC Sullivan County Chapter, was…
Heartwarming, to be honest. Our chapter finished the summer off with a community service themed Bike Nite this past Tuesday night.
First, we honored Kenneth “Kenny” Stretch Jr., an employee of BREW and an integral part of our Bike Nites. Kenny loved our club and what we stand for. Like all the other BREW employees, Kenny always went the extra mile, within the scope of his job, to make sure all went smoothly and everyone was happy. Always had a smile on his face no matter how stressful things may have gotten with the hustle and bustle of a busy establishment.
For those who did not know Kenny, he tragically passed away doing what he loved, riding.
Our chapter decided to grant Kenny the status of official Supporter posthumously and assigned him the riding name CHEF.
In the pictures you will see the Kutte with his name and designation in a shadow box made by one of our brothers as well as the brass plaque which explains the Kutte below the box, made by another of our brother.
Kenny’s parents and family were present and after the dedication ceremony, we presented his momma with an image on a wooden frame, made by one of our brothers, of Kenny with his bike and wearing his Kutte, in heaven. It was an emotional moment for his momma and it was the least we could do for the woman who gave us Kenny for a short time.
We were also glad and humbled to be able to provide checks to both the Ride 2 Survive and the Huntington’s Disease Society of America organizations.
Ride 2 Survive is a noble Sullivan County venture which provides financial assistance to local cancer patients for their transportation costs incurred with all their cancer related appointments. Here is their link: Join the Ride 2 Survive Event - Ride2Survive Sullivan
Huntington’s Disease Society of America is another worthy cause and we donate to them every year in memory of our own #1 Supporter Darcy Duggan who passed away from that disease. Here is their link: https://hdsa.org
Gailen, Darcy’s daughter was present for the donation. She brought Darcy’s Kutte which was appreciated.
As always, much gratitude to Cara and Brad, of BREW, for hosting our Bike Nites every summer since the beginning.
Best Bike went to Knuckles from the Gunfighters, a nice challenge coin made by one of our brothers, and 2nd prize, a gift card to BREW went to Colin Mangan.
Much thanks to the Knights Order LEMC brothers from Orange County and Westchester who rode up to be with us, the Bleeding Hearts LEMC, the Gunfighters MC, Wild Pigs LEMC, and the Wurtsboro HOGS, as well as all our civilian friends who joined us to make this a memorable evening.
Thank you to our Orange County brother, Batman, for donating back his take of the 50/50. These monies always go towards good causes.
And there it is. Another season laid to rest in the archives of our chapters’ history, as relatively short as it may be.
See you all next spring!
