What’s happening inside stores matters more than many people realize.
A recent blog from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America highlights how the retail environment plays a major role in youth to***co use.

From product placement to pricing and advertising, these strategies are designed to increase visibility and normalize ni****ne use among young people.
Research continues to show that:

* Youth are more likely to start using to***co when exposed to marketing in stores

* Retailers near schools often have higher levels of advertising and promotions
* Early exposure increases the risk of long-term ni****ne addiction

This is why community-level strategies like to***co retail licensing and zoning matter.

New research shows that conversations about flavored to***co restrictions on TikTok are often filled with misinformation and content that can undermine public health efforts. Some posts even promote ways to get around flavor bans, making it harder to protect young people from ni****ne addiction.

Social media plays a powerful role in shaping perceptions — and when misleading content spreads, it can normalize to***co use and weaken progress. Staying informed and sharing accurate information matters.

• Ni****ne pouch use is rising among adolescents
• Nearly half of teen e-cigarette users also report ma*****na use
• Ni****ne use is closely linked with mental health outcomes

Youth are not just the target of to***co marketing. They can be the force that challenges it.

Programs like Reality Check from the Smoking & Health Action Coalition show that when young people are given the tools to lead, they can expose how the to***co industry targets their generation and take action to protect their communities.

From documenting to***co advertising in local stores to organizing cleanups in parks and public spaces, youth-led efforts help bring attention to how ni****ne products are marketed and how they impact community health.
Research shows:

Stores near schools often have significantly more to***co promotions
The more young people are exposed to to***co marketing, the more likely they are to start using90 percent of smokers begin before the age of 18
These are not just statistics.

They are a call to action.
