Open Enrollment (October 15th-December 7th) is the best time to review potential changes to your Medicare plan. Reviewing your coverage allows you to note any changes to the cost of your prescriptions or the doctors within your network. Give us a call at 803-329-9670 option 4 if you need assistance with looking at new plans.

Filling the same prescriptions next year doesn't always mean paying the same costs.

During Medicare Open Enrollment, review your prescription drug coverage for 2027. Changes to drug costs, preferred pharmacies, and coverage rules can affect what you pay.

The Center has received several reports recently from skilled nursing facility (SNF) beneficiaries who found themselves disenrolled from their Medicare Advantage Plans without their knowledge or consent. SNFs may be trying to help residents receive coverage for their stays by “assisting” them to switch to Traditional Medicare. In many cases, the beneficiaries or their representatives do not learn about the enrollment change until after they have been discharged from the SNF and try to access services and/or start receiving bills for services that they believed their Medicare health plan should cover. Often, there was no consideration given to choosing a Part D Plan or alerting beneficiaries to their state’s guaranteed issue rights into a Medigap plan.

Nursing homes may try to "help" you get coverage by switching you out of a private plan... but that's illegal.
