Last week’s RHEDC Annual Meeting featured insightful discussions on the importance of business recruitment and the policies that help communities compete for high-quality jobs. Speakers emphasized how strategic incentives, public support, and strong advocacy work together to attract investment and create lasting economic opportunity.

Sara Hazzard, President & CEO at SC Manufacturers and Commerce, discussed the importance of business advocacy at the state level through incentives and other policies.

Dianne Jones, Managing Director at JLL, highlighted the competitive real estate climate for business recruitment and the critical role strategic incentives play in success.

Dr. Duane Neff, associate professor at Winthrop University, shared results from a recent local survey showing 97% of respondents support industry recruitment and 77% support incentives, especially with a focus on high-paying jobs.

Grateful for the leadership, partnerships, and continued support that strengthen our community and regional economy.

The South Carolina Research Authority has announced that Rock Hill will have an Innovation Hub as part of an effort to accelerate investment and strengthen the state’s emerging technology ecosystems in key regions across the state. The initiative will also establish hubs in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, Aiken and Florence. The hubs will be central regions for collaboration, resource sharing, and support for high-potential tech companies as they grow from ideas to impactful enterprises.

Join us for The Southside Music Cultural Trail Stories Sung Spoken & Shared, a citywide celebration with music art and storytelling!

The Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra will feature works by black composers. There will also be poets, dramatists, storytellers, musicians and more. The event will be held at McGirt Auditorium at Emmett Scott Center and is free and open to the public.

Food trucks will be open and on site. Events begin at 12:30 PM and end at 5 PM.
