Jerry Celletti, VFW Post 5418, is proud to announce that we recently made donations to support veterans and preserve their legacy for generations to come.

The Post recently donated $25,000 to the LaSalle Veterans Home in the name of Jerry Celletti. This donation will be used by the clients at the home to purchase items that they need to enjoy their days there.

We donated $12,500 each to the City of Rock Falls and the City of Sterling for Veterans Memorials to be located in each community, also in the name of Jerry Celletti.

At VFW Post 5418, we are here to serve veterans and to preserve their legacy within our communities.

Fellow VFW Post 5418 members,

We will meet at 7:00 pm at the Rock Falls American Legion on May 11. This meeting is important, and we must have a quorum to conduct business.

At this meeting, we will discuss and decide how to use the money we have in the bank from the sale of our properties. If we do not make that decision on May 11, the ILVFW will file the necessary paperwork to take that money from us.

Suggestions for that money include donating it to scholarship funds in Jerry Celletti's name to the local high schools and Sauk Valley Community College. Another suggestion is to donate some of it to the Rock Falls Veterans Park, the Sterling Veterans Park, or other causes.

To be honest with you, it is sad to say, we have reached the end of our journey. We are the last VFW in Whiteside County, and unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye to our charter, as we can no longer meet the requirements to remain a chartered member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.

I personally do not object to giving the money to the ILVFW if that is the Post's choice. But I do not wish to simply let them take it from us because we could not convince enough members of VFW Post 5418 to show up one last time to vote on their will.

Please come to this meeting. Let's do Jerry Celletti proud and go out with one last Hurrah!

It is sad to say, but VFW Post 5418, "The Bunker," bar and restaurant, is closed for business as of November 29, 2025. It was a heck of a ride, but the costs of running a business have given us no other choice. I'll make sure to provide you with more information about the sale of items and property as we reach that point. But for now, we'll say thank you to all of our friends and customers who kept coming back.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our lives. We wish you well in the future.
