This post is being written by Gino Arilotta’s daughter Rose. He asked me to say that He apologizes for not keeping current with FB postings or texts. He hasn’t had much energy. For over a month he has been dealing with lung and bone cancer. There are procedures pending that could help delay the inevitable so as to give him more time to spend with family. Captain Joel Barnes, a 32 year old firefighter, a member of Teamsters, Local 340 died while fighting an apartment blaze.
He died shielding a fellow firefighter from the flames.
More than 2500 people, many of them fellow firefighters, lined the street surrounded with Teamster tractor trailers to pay their respects & celebrate the life of Capt. Barnes.
