Sweet girl Angel had a history of pyometra and needed to be spayed before her next heat, which could have turned into a life threatening pyometra. Between a combination of our Rochester Community Animal Clinic Medical Fund and funds from Rochester Hope for Pets, the majority of the cost of her surgery was able to be covered. Continued donations from our followers help us to assist with these essential surgeries!

Our final 2025 recipient of our Emergency Medical Community Fund actually ended up being THREE recipients! Cardi was brought into Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services having extreme difficulty giving birth. With the help of funds generously supplied by our donors, we were able to save not just Cardi's life, but also that of her two adorable puppies, a little boy and a little girl! We will be following up with the help of another local rescue to ensure these precious babies are fully vaccinated, spayed and neutered. What a way to end our first full year focusing on community support as our new mission. We hope to help even more dogs in 2026 so please share the word about our various grants: https://rescuepit.org/available-community-grants/

In our last month of 2025 we were able to embrace the holiday spirit and use our Emergency Medical Community Fund to help multiple dogs with unexpected emergencies. Miss Lola's owner reached out for help with her pups pyometra, an infected uterus which can be life threatening without a timely but expensive emergency surgery. Luckily, thanks to our generous donors we were able to help. Now Lola is recovering, happy and spayed!

We know the holidays can be stressful, especially financially. We also know that our pets don't usually choose the easiest times to get sick or injured. Please remember during this holiday season that our Emergency Medical Community Fund is available to all those who qualify financially. This grant is NOT pit bull specific and may be used for any breed of dog. The goal of this fund is to provide financial assistance for emergency vet care to families in need. We do our best to answer applications as quickly as possible: https://rescuepit.org/support/rescue-pit-community-fund/

We wanted to make a big shout out for the staff of Rochester Community Animal Clinic for this Thankful Thursday! They have been working so diligently to continue to provide accessible care to our community despite staffing challenges. Our second Thankful Thursday goes out to our wonderful trainers at Dog Educated! We are deeply grateful to have such capable, educated, kind hearted trainers available in Rochester, with a wealth of knowledge and compassion for owned and rescue dogs alike! We have teamed up with them to offer our Humane Training and Home Retention Sponsorship Program which helps sponsor much needed training to keep dogs that may have otherwise been surrendered for behavior concerns in their loving homes. We even sometimes extend our assistance to help pups in other rescues get the training they need, like adoptable Ghost in the up and coming Champ’s Pittie Network!
