We are proud to stand with Minnesota Nurses Association Mankato members today and every day. It’s union nurses who raise care and safety standards for all healthcare workers and care for our families directly. Thank you, nurses.

“Reproductive rights are workers’ rights. Southeast Minnesota’s labor movement will do everything in our power to stand up for reproductive freedom wherever it is a workplace issue - in collective bargaining agreements, in union-negotiated healthcare plans, at the ballot box, and, if need be, in the streets.”

We announced our first round of 2022 legislative endorsements today. These 4 candidates have proven their strong commitment to labor and our freedom to organize in unions. Each candidate completed a MN AFL-CIO questionnaire, attended a screening open to all union members and staff, and received at least 2/3 support from both our COPE committee and the MN AFL-CIO General Board.

More endorsements will be coming soon.

A Strong, United Voice for Minnesota's Working People

The Southeast Minnesota Area Labor Council represents over 40,000 union members from more than 140 local unions throughout Southeast Minnesota. We are healthcare workers, electricians, bakers, manufacturers, equipment operators, teachers, public employees, nurses, construction workers, service employees, drivers, painters, plumbers-- and more.

The mission of the Southeast Minnesota Area Labor Council is to improve the lives of working families—to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to our state and the nation. To accomplish this mission, we work to:

  • Build a broad movement of Minnesota workers by helping workers join and form unions.

  • Support Minnesota workers as they bargain with employers to improve their living conditions and workplaces, as well as their communities, state and nation.
