We are ✨ecstatic✨ to announce that we'll be performing alongside the ethereal Sophie B. Hawkins at Water Street Music Hall on Saturday, December 5!

Sophie B. Hawkins is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known especially for her hits "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" and "As I Lay Me Down." Nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy in 1993, she continues touring and writing, engineering, and producing new work. She is a devoted LGBTQ+ advocate, challenging the norms of gender expression and sexual orientation by having been the first entertainer to openly identify as omnisexual.

This show will also feature Teressa Wilcox, a Rochester-born singer-songwriter who blends raw emotion with the unapologetic energy of rock and roll.

As a fundraiser to support our mission—creating social change through excellence in the choral arts—guests will enjoy:
• A homemade spaghetti dinner served by RGMC members
• An exclusive preview performance from our December concert
• Opportunities to meet and socialize with chorus members as well as friends and supporters from across the community
• A welcoming atmosphere celebrating music and inclusion

📍PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE for tonight's and next week's rehearsals (September 17 and 24): Due to DUPC being used as a Fringe Festival site, we will hold rehearsals at Trinity Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 761 Elmgrove Rd, Rochester NY 14624. Timing remains the same: 7-9:30 pm.

It's not too late to join us! For both of these rehearsals, we welcome new members (and old friends) to join us as we begin learning music for our December 2026 show, “An RGMC Christmas Carol,” a festive reimagining of Charles Dickens’s timeless tale that will warm the spirit and remind us of the power of compassion.

After the 24th, rehearsals will return to our usual spot at Downtown United Presbyterian Church (DUPC), 121 N Fitzhugh St, in Rochester.

No experience necessary! All you need is a desire to sing and a vocal range of tenor, baritone, or bass. Please arrive a bit early to your first rehearsal for voice placement with Artistic Director Alex Kuczynski.

Thursday was our first day of rehearsal for our new cycle, which reunited old friends and welcomed new ones. Whether starting year 1 or year 41, the group was excited to get to know each other and get to work!

Thank you to our friends in the Rochester Women's Community Chorus for supporting us and Rochester LGBTQ+ Together at the Rochester Red Wings Pride Night and capturing this video of us singing the National Anthem. The nearly 3-hour(!) rain delay may have decreased our numbers and those in the stands, but it didn’t dampen our spirits!

We are heartbroken upon the passing of Dolly Parton, an unwavering ally for the LGBTQ+ community. And we are all the more grateful and honored to have dedicated our July concert to her work and to have been surrounded by the enthusiastic support of the Rochester community as we spread her messages of love and inclusivity.

These lyrics from “Rainbowland,” which Dolly wrote with Oren Kleinman and Miley Cyrus and recorded with Miley, speak powerfully to the work that both Dolly and the RGMC have long been so passionate about.

We will continue welcoming every hue to our rainbowland. 🌈

📣 It's almost that time again: We're welcoming new singers (and old friends) to join us for our next rehearsal cycle!

Rehearsals begin Thursday, September 10, for our December 2026 show, “An RGMC Christmas Carol,” a festive reimagining of Charles Dickens’s timeless tale that will warm the spirit and remind us of the power of compassion.

Rehearsals are held on Thursdays, 7-9:30 pm, at Downtown United Presbyterian Church (DUPC), 121 N Fitzhugh St, in Rochester.

A new member meet & greet is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, also at 7 pm at DUPC. This is an informal chance to mingle with other chorus members and meet with Artistic Director Alex Kuczynski for voice placement.

No experience necessary! All you need is a desire to sing and a vocal range of tenor, baritone, or bass.
