A great reminder from our friends at the police station!!

A Reminder to Parents from Team RPD

If you pay for your child’s phone… you have every right to look at it.

We know phones and social media are a huge part of growing up today, but they also bring risks that many parents never had to deal with when we were kids. As police officers, we continue to see situations where simply knowing what was happening on a phone could have prevented serious problems.

Kids be very careful what you post on TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook (We know, that's for old people) and all those other trendy social media apps.

The consequences can include:
* Bullying and humiliation
* Emotional and mental health impacts
* School discipline
* And in some cases serious legal consequences
* What you post may hurt your chances of getting into a good college or the job that you always wanted!

Parents-this is where you come in.

It’s okay to be a parent and not a best friend. Keeping track of your child’s social media and checking their phone from time to time isn’t invading privacy- it’s responsible parenting.

A few simple reminders:
✔ Know what apps your kids are using
✔ Follow their social media accounts
✔ Have conversations about online behavior
✔ Remind them that nothing sent online is ever truly private
✔ And if you pay for the phone… you can look at it

Parenting in the digital age isn’t easy, but staying involved is one of the best ways to keep kids safe.

We want our kids growing up with good judgment- not learning lessons the hard way.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined us on Zoom for last Thursday’s School Committee meeting. Your presence and engagement were felt and deeply appreciated. It matters when our community shows up.

As we continue to navigate the current budget challenges facing Rochester Memorial School, we want to share ways families can stay informed and involved.

Below is an article that provides helpful context about the funding pressures rural towns across Massachusetts are experiencing. While every community’s situation is unique, it gives a broader picture of the structural challenges small towns like ours are working through.

We encourage everyone to:
• Stay informed
• Review the information shared by the School Committee

Our goal as a PTO is simple: to support our students, our teachers, and the long-term health of our school community. Thoughtful, fact-based advocacy makes a difference.

RMS Families,

This Thursday, 2/12/26, the RMS School Committee will meet at 4:30 PM in the Superintendent's Conference Room at ORRHS (and on Zoom) to discuss the school budget being prepared for the town.

We want to encourage families attend on Zoom. ZOOM attendance is ideal for this meeting - as the meeting is in a Conference room, and doesn't hold many people.

The school budget plays a significant role in shaping staffing, programming, and the overall student experience for the coming academic year. These conversations matter, and community presence at this stage helps ensure that family voices are represented in the process.

Whether you attend in person or via Zoom, being informed and engaged is one of the most impactful ways to support our students and school community.

🎉 December Snack Cart – Thank You!! 🎉

Huge shout-out to everyone who made today so festive and fun!
💗 Sarah – for the amazing homemade hot cocoa and pizzelle ingredients
💗 Corey – for helping push the cart around the school
💗 Trent – for mixing batter, manning the pizzelle machine, and smashing candy canes like a pro
💗 Meghan – for the delicious peppermint bark and mini muffins!

Everything was fantastic — thank you so much!!!

Several of you have already signed up for committees (yay!) — including ones that help with events like this. We’ll be in touch soon as we need to start planning the January Snack Cart! 💫

We’re still looking for a few more volunteers to help make this a magical shopping experience for our RMS kids. 💫

We especially need more “shoppers” to walk with students, help them budget, and pick out gifts for their families. 💕

🎃 Thank you to everyone who came out for our Spooktacular! 👻

We’re so grateful for all the families, friends, and volunteers who helped make today such a fun and festive afternoon! A special thank-you to Karyn Wylie, our amazing Event Coordinator, for organizing and leading the way — you did a spooktacular job! 🧡

We hope everyone enjoyed time with family, caught up with friends, and maybe even made a few new ones along the way!
