Greater Rochester Summer Learning Association (GRSLA) is a 501-c3 not-for-profit organization that offers high-quality summer learning to the children of low-income families of the Greater Rochester area. GRSLA is comprised of educational institutions, including The Harley School, University of Rochester, Monroe Community College, Nazareth College, SUNY Geneseo, Allendale-Columbia School, and SUNY
Brockport. GRSLA is also comprised of child care centers, including Baden Street, Caring and Sharing, Community Child Care, Creative Beginnings, Friendship Children's Center, IBERO, Rochester Childfirst Network and VOA Children's Center. The collaborative effort put forth by these institutions, or "summerLEAP," is pushing forward in the community's effort to eliminate the achievement gap of low-income students who would otherwise continue to fall further behind their middle-class peers. By providing the academically at-risk students with a six-week summer experience filled with educational growth and enrichment, we hope to transform the Rochester youth into to young scholars who will go on to graduate from high school on time, achieve a post-secondary education, and become successful young professionals in the workforce.
