Rochester Garden Club We are an active group dedicated to improving our community through educational outreach, and activities in support of gardening and the environment.

The Rochester Garden Club is a group of fun, curious and dedicated women who love gardens and who join together to learn and laugh. We serve the greater Rochester area through charitable donations, beautification, and community outreach with an eye toward horticulture, the environment, and education. The Rochester Garden Club is a Branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden Association (WNF&GA). We are a Michigan non-profit 501-C-3 service organization.

The Rochester Garden Club is always interested in welcoming new members who are interested learning about gardening and serving the Rochester Community. Our NEW news is that for the time being our meetings will be held at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm in the beautiful Calf Barn. We have learned that the Rochester Community House will be closed for renovation at least until spring 2027.
We are so happy and grateful to have the Calf Barn in which to meet. It is climate controlled, well lit and has two screens for any programs.
Join us at 9:30 on the second Tuesday of September and October (November requires another adjustment that we will keep readers aware of). The saying goes, “Change is good”. Let’s make it so.

Do you have a minute to watch a Giant Swallowtail nectar on Rose Milkweed plants and listen to the peaceful sound of water falling? We hope so. The host plants for this swallowtail are wafer ash (hop tree), prickly ash, gas plants and Rue. Nature is so amazing. Let’s help her a bit by providing nectar plants, host plants or both!

Garlic harvest day at the Children’s Garden at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.
They have all been dug up and now they need to cure out of the sun and away from moisture. We had a good harvest. It is always fun to see what has been happening underground since they were planted in September of last year. The largest bulbs came from the best location and best soil. We missed cutting the scapes off two of them and just as promised, they were quite a bit smaller. These are hard neck type garlic. Some will be saved to replant late in September of this year.

We were invited to share info about the Rochester Garden Club with the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester. We appreciated the warm welcome and the opportunity. Shared were ideas for floral designs using garden flowers and lots of gardening questions were asked and answered.
