In honor of Women’s History Month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and vision of our founder, Gwen Clifton.
Before Safeway Homes of Greater Rochester began helping families rebuild their lives, Gwen was a mother determined to create a better future for her child.
For a time, she was raising one daughter on her own, the same daughter who would later become her partner and co-founder. During those years she worked multiple jobs to provide, doing whatever it took to keep everything together.
Even after those challenging seasons, Gwen pursued her education and graduated from college. She remained committed to making sure her daughters had the same opportunities to grow, succeed, and dream bigger.
Her determination to create stability and opportunity for her own family became the foundation for Safeway Homes of Greater Rochester.
Today that same spirit continues to guide our mission: providing women, men, and children with a safe and supportive environment, empowering individuals through education and skill building, and creating pathways toward long-term stability and family reunification.
Our vision is a future where every individual can rise from adversity, embrace their full potential, reunite with loved ones, and build a life rooted in dignity and self-sufficiency.
The strength it takes to change one life can grow into something powerful enough to change many. 💛
Thank you Gwen for Making Way
