New class alert: Intro to Relief Wood Carving!

Discover the art of relief carving in this relaxed, hands-on class. You’ll have access to all the tools you need as you learn the basics of carving with step-by-step guidance from the instructor. Practice a variety of cutting techniques on the back of your board, then create your own 10" x 12" work of art on the front.

With Kevin’s approachable teaching style and years of experience, you’ll find that learning to carve is both easy and fun!

Happening tonight! Discover the stories that helped shape our community. Join local author and historian Andre Crockett Sr. at Willow Creek Middle School this evening for a special presentation on his new book, Rochester Black Legacy.

Andre will share the journey behind uncovering Rochester’s rich Black history, the historical detective work involved, and the meaningful lessons he learned along the way.

Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the history display Andre created based on his research, enjoy light refreshments, and get a signed copy from the author following the presentation.

Doors open at 6:00 PM
Presentation begins at 6:30 PM
Reception to follow

Join CE Youth Enrichment at Hoover on June 15 for our Home Alone (Gr. 2 and Up) class. Students will build confidence and learn practical skills, including safe habits, house rules, after-school routines, handling phone calls and unexpected visitors, pet safety, personal safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and basic first aid. What stories make up the history of our community? Join Andre Crockett Sr. on May 28 at Willow Creek Middle School for an evening exploring Rochester’s rich Black history through his new book, Rochester Black Legacy.

Andre will share insights from his research process, the discoveries that shaped the book, and the importance of preserving local history for future generations. Attendees can also view his accompanying history display, enjoy refreshments, and get a book signed after the presentation.

Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the presentation beginning at 6:30 PM.
Free and open to the public. No registration necessary.
